Description
We are a family (myself David, my sister Dominique and our mom Maria) trying to manage a big piece of land just by ourselves.
We host people and friends all year long but summer is too busy for us to manage and I (David) live in Spain so I can't be there so often.
We are looking for someone to help us with cleaning, checking-in our guests and clean the swimming pool. That's it. In exchnage you get to stay in one of the studios and use the pool. No meals are included but we can discuss other tasks. We are looking for someone who can stay for the summer (july and august) preferably.
We do not make any money from holiday rentals or anything. We simply host our friends or people that exchange their homes with us (with Home Exchange).Types of help and learning opportunities

We all speak portuguese and french. I (David) also speak english and spanish which may help during messaging but I won't be in the farm during the summer. My sister Dominique also speaks some english.
You can expect little interaction with Maria and Dominique as you will be autonomous. If you prefer to hang out with them every day, that is also possible. You can help more in the farm, green garden, etc. and have meals with them. We can discuss this if you are interested.Help
We are looking for someone to help us with cleaning, checking on our guests and clean the swimming pool. That's pretty much it.
On average it will take less than hour a day and you don't even have to be there every day. As long as the bungalows are clean, the swimming pool is clean and the green garden is watered every day, you can organize the rest of the days as you wish.
We will share the check-in and check-out dates much in advance so you can plan ahead.
These are not paying guests. Most are from home swaps that we do with Home Exchange and other's are friends of ours.Languages spoken

You will stay in small studio with your own bathroom and kitchen. It's small and it gets pretty warm during the summer. We can provide a fan because there is no A/C. You can do groceries and cook your own meals.
You can also stay in one of the bungalows while they are available, as long and you keep them clean and they are ready when our guests arrive. What else ...
A car is great to have because there is hardly any public transportation. If you don't have one, we can pick you up from the train station (Marco, 16 km away).
You can walk to the nearest village (Sande) but it's a steep walk back, especially with groceries. I'm sure you can get a ride with Maria or Dominique to the village or even further. If we feel safe and you're to be trusted you can even use one of the cars.
This farm is close to the Douro River. You can hike for around 5 km to a river beach called Vimieiro. There is another one further away (11 km) called Bitetos which is much better with a café/lounge next to it.
You can get a ride with my sister Dominique to Marco (de Canaveses) and Marco's train station. That way you can get on the train to Porto (1 hour) or even to the heart of the Douro wine and Port wine region (Pinhão / Régua). The train ride to Pinhão offers a spetacular view of the river and and the vineyards. I would say it's well worth the day trip.A little more information
Internet access
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
Can host digital nomads
We don't have an internet connection right now but if you need one I can try to set it up before you come. I'm actually thinking about getting a portable wifi hotspot for the bungalows.
Space for parking camper vans
There is small camping site where you can park the car/camper/motorhome with a kitchen area, bathroom and barbecue. You are welcome to use the tennis court next to it but it's pretty old. Of course you can always sleep in the studio if you prefer.
Can possibly accept pets
We don't mind accepting pets as long as you clean up after them. We have two dogs in the farm (Amy and Kika) and Amy does get along with other female dogs. This means you can bring your female dog but we will need to make sure they do not meet unsupervised.
How many Workawayers can stay?

What was supposed to be a simple workwayay exchange, became a true friendship.
Alex was always happy to help with any task. She's friendly and really sociable and makes an effort to understand and learn other languages (Portuguese) and culture!

David and Joana were very clear about everything before my arrival. All my tasks were simple and while we got sweaty, it was always a positive feeling. Dominique, Maria, and Catarina were all friendly and welcoming,… read more
