… read more spent a lot of evenings bonding with them under the tuscan summer sunset and I loved every minute. Each horse has their personality and I miss them all! We stayed in contact while Sarah was away and even if we spent very little time together in person on this occasion, I felt very comfortable and a great rapport. She is very kind and friendly. I spent no more than 10 minutes in the sand cafe with the children but after drinking my beautifully presented 'shell sand soup' I understood that they are two very awesome children! I could have been happy to hang out with them for days! Thank you to Sarah for the opportunity to feel free and help out on her beautiful and well organised farm/menaggio and thanks to Fabio for his patience with my italian and showing me the ropes. They are very dedicated and kind people. Just being there was a great treat. What courage and motivation it must take to embark on a project this this, and what a gift to allow WA participants to be a part of the extraordinary journey. Thank you

I recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful place in Tuscany, among horses and Sky, the dog, in a loving family. Noah and Juna, his children, are equally endearing and will love you from the moment you walk through the door. Sarah is a very good cook and as far as accommodation is concerned, we sleep in the camper van, so we have our privacy. Caroline stayed with us for about 3 weeks. She was fantastic company, we all really enjoyed having her here, she was a great help in the stable and super fast (I think I should hire her!) 🙂, she also helped with other things and did everything perfect. … read more the stable, surrounded by nature, is also a real dream. When I woke up, the birds were chirping and I could watch the sunrise almost every morning, which I loved so much. The horses, the dog Sky and the cats are also such a joy to be with.
The food was delicious, Sarah is a very good cook and I learnt some new things that I will try at home too.

It was realy great to have Livia with us!! She help with every thing and was very nice company to have. She can more or less do any kind of job she learns quick and is not scared of getting her hands dirty and is also very flexible!! She was also great with the children and the animals. As you're very integrated into their day-to-day-life, you're not in the right spot if you're looking for an experience where "working" hours and your leisure time are strictly separated. Once Noah and Juna have warmed up to you - they want to spend as much time as possible with you, and who could say no to such sweethearts! :D
The stable work as such is very do-able, even for a beginner like me - Fabio will show you what to do and eventually you'll even get sporadic shoulder-pats, as you master the craft :P You'll also get to learn about gardening and all kinds of hands-on tasks, which I really appreciated.

Journey stayed with us for 1 month. He helped us with all kind of maintanance jobs on the farm. He was a great help and worked a lot and also had no problem in working independent. … read more is always something to be done around the farm. We took nice trips on the weekend, to waterfalls, hikes, pretty villages, shopping and lots more. I also had the chance to ride Sarah’s horse, Saturnia. This was the most amazing experience, riding through olive groves and this incredible Italian countryside. Juna and Noah have so much energy and are fun to be around :) one day I would love to come back to the farm for another harvest or maybe in the summer with the eco pool! I've spent three weeks with Sarah and her family and I had a really good time there. The first two weeks we harvested olives with Sarah's parents (very nice people) and we worked a little bit more than 5 hours but the next week I've worked less than 5 hours so that's totally ok.

Sarah and Cristiano are really nice and kind, they made me feel like a part of their family and their two kids are very cute and funny.
They're both great cook and they also adapted their cooking to my lactose intollerance, never made me feel bad about my special needs, they were really welcoming.
If you search for a place to practice languages that's the right place for you, because they speak three languages and tge kids do that too.

I spent three weeks at Sarah's and Cristiano's home, right after the end of quarantine in Italy. First, I was supposed to stay earlier in the year but the whole sanitary situation made it difficult. I kept in touch with Sarah and we finally found a solution so that I could come. It was the best decision ever !

… read more part of Tuscany is very quiet, peaceful and the weather was just amazing. During our time off, we would go and drive in the hills, pick up elderflowers to make syrup, sometimes go to the seaside. The camper I stayed in is perfectly enough private space, and located in a gorgeous area of the farm, with perfect privacy and a large comfie bed. Everything is just as described. But you must not be scared of bugs, it's still in the middle of nature !
As for the help I gave, it was mostly looking after the children to allow Sarah to work with the horses. I gave a hand in the garden, painted some stuff, sometimes helped a bit in the stable, and also filmed a short video for the horse pension business. It was very day to day, not necesseraly 5 hours a day, almost never more. Communication was very open, Sarah really wants her workawayers to feel comfortable, at home, and never worry about talking to her. I had some amazing discussions with her, and Cristiano helped me very much with my italian. The kids are absolutely bright, very intelligent, I got very attached to them. Can't wait to see them again in a few years, all grown up !
Thank you so much to all four of you. I had the best time, after two difficult months of isolation, you made me feel like part of the family and offered me the most wonderful first experience one could ever ask. In the last two weeks I have done my first workaway experience so far and I loved staying with Cristiano, Sarah and Noah.

Sarah is not only an expert when it comes to horses (which are all very well-behaved and which I got to know quite well - She also let me ride her horses which I am very thankful for!), but she also knows a lot of stuff about childcare and is a fabulous mother to her son and soon to her daughter as well ;-)
Usually I was taking care of the horses (feeding them, cleaning the boxes/paddocks, putting them outside or even working with them) Sometimes I would take care of Noah as well or paint something. However, it never really felt like working to me as I could freely decide when to work.
I also got to know other people working for them, the owners of horses, friends of the family etc. who all treated me well, so in the end I am actually quite sad about leaving this place because I have always felt welcome and comfortable around them.

Sono veramente grata di aver avuto la possibilità di fare questa esperienza con persone meravigliose che mi hanno donato pace, tanta allegria e dolcezza. On free days we would go on trips to other small towns,to the sea which I woudn't see otherways where I tryed delicious food from Toscana.
