I spent little over two weeks at the lovely home of Henriette's family. Everyone was very kind and welcoming to me, I was always offered to join the family activities and I could even invite my boyfriend, who lived nearby, to join us for dinner or to stay over. The work was varied and enjoyable and I've learned a lot about gardening and living

What I also really enjoyed thorought my stay were the carriage rides with the ponies, having meals together, learning German, eating Stockbrot and the amazing bread and pastry from Susanne :) Thank you for everything and I wish you all the best.Vom Host für Workawayer (Julie)
Julie stayed with us for two weeks and we had a great time together.
We did a lot of work in the garden, cut wood and prepared the vegetables for the summer. She did amazing work :)
Besides we realy enjoyed her company in our family and her great cooking skills.
We wish her a great time on travels!
We had the best Time in Alfter with Susanne and the family, and all the animals. We usually started our days with feeding all the animals, and then had som breakfast before we began with the tasks of the day. They told us some different work that needed to be done, and we could choose what we wanted to do. Henriette worked with us most of the days
… read more since she was home, which was really fun and gave us even more time to talk and get to know each other:) We painted, oiled the outdoor furniture, fixed the vegetable garden for spring and so much more.
The family prepared delicious food for us, and we also cooked together sometimes:)
In the afternoons we were free to do what we wanted, but we usually ended up either playing cards with them, watch movies or go out for rides with the ponies because thats when we had the most fun!
There are also many beautiful places to see around Alfter, and Susanne and the family brought us to many different places. We felt at home with the whole family right away, and they welcomed us in with open arms and no hesitation. They showed us so much, including carneval which was amazing.
We could not have had a better time there, and will forever cherish all the memories<3
We are already excited to come back again because we know that we will always be welcome!

Tomine and Amanda stayed with us for three weeks and we had a great time together. They simply did amazing work and finished a lot of unfinished projects of us (like painting, preparing the vegetable garden for summer, feeding the animals and more). Besides work we spend amazing hours together. Playing card games - they know some cool games -, talking and laughing, going out with the ponies, doing trips together and celebrating carneval. They are both super kind and adapt to our family really quick. We've started to miss them the moment they left : ( We wish you an amazing journey through Europe and you are always welcome to come back to celebrate even more carneval, going out in the woods or so we can finally beat Amanda in her card game!!!

I truly enjoyed my stay in Alfter! Susanne, Norbert and their four daughters are amazing, kind and welcoming people. They really made me feel part of the family, sharing with me their everyday life and the meals, bringing me to many places, introducing me to their friends and family. I had my own very nice room, and was helping them with different
… read more tasks such as gardening, painting garden furnitures, cleaning/painting a stable. Susanne and Norbert preferred to tell me about all the different tasks I could do, and to let me choose what I wanted to do and when, which was really really nice of them. I was then free to plan my days myself and to visit the surroundings whenever I wanted to. It's easy to visit the region using the train (S-bahn or RE) from Alfter or Roisdorf, and there are many places to visit like Bonn, Köln, Brühl, Koblenz, Rheinbach etc. You are also at the right place if you love animals, and you will surely enjoy the rides with the carriages and the ponies in the forest!
