Description
Welcome to my family home — a peaceful retreat in the mountains and forests of Gunma, about 30 minutes from Minakami.
After two crazy months of renovation, the house looks pretty amazing, honestly, I didn’t think that was possible!! 😄
This cozy 3-story wooden house has a warm retro feel and has slowly been coming back to life after many years of being unused. Most of the renovation is now complete, and I’m just looking for a bit of help to finish the last tasks.
🔧 What’s needed now:
Hard gardening work (removing stubborn bamboo roots)
Installing mosquito nets on windows
A bit of DIY — there are always small things to fix around an old wooden house
Optional: If you have skills in photography, video, or social media, I’d love help sharing the story of this place online!
⏳ Short stays only!
All volunteers will be paid ¥1,000 per hour. Please note that you must have a visa that allows paid work in Japan, such as a Working Holiday Visa.
Access & Area Info:
I’m a beginner driver since April and public transport is limited (only 2 buses/day), so having your own car would be helpful.
The area is surrounded by nature — perfect for hiking lovers!
Takaragawa Onsen, a stunning outdoor hot spring, is just a 10-minute drive away.
If you’d like to enjoy the peace of the forest while helping with these final touches, feel free to reach out!

I was born in Tokyo and raised in a double culture, with a Japanese father and an Italian mother. I attended the French School from age 3 and lived in Tokyo until I was 12. Then, I spent 10 years in Paris until I graduated from university. At 23, I returned to Tokyo and worked for FIAT for 9 years. In 2015, I left my job to follow my dream of a nomadic life and I have been using Workaway as volunteering since 2016 :)
Since then, I’ve spent 3 years traveling in South America, 1 year in Africa, and I’ve visited many countries in the Himalayan region, always happy to explore the smiling countries of Southeast Asia. I love nature, mountains, and meeting new people. I’m excited to share my languages—Japanese, Italian, French, English, and Spanish—and my experiences with you.
If you have ideas or suggestions to make the house even more magical, I’d love to hear them! I’m open to learning new things and excited to exchange knowledge and cultures with you.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

There are several rooms available, each with European-style beds.
Wi-Fi is installed, but since we’re in a remote mountain area, the connection can sometimes be very slow.
(SIM cards generally work well out here.)
I’m not a super cook and usually prepare simple, easy meals.
Since I’m on a bit of a budget, the food will be basic but there will always be something to eat, and for sure we’ll cook and share meals together!A little more information
