  Welcome to our home in Finnish Lapland, located right on the edge of the stunning Pallas-Ylläs National Park.
  
  We live here with our 40 Alaskan Huskies and run husky tours during the winter season. Our home and kennel are situated between the well-known ski areas of Pallas/Ollos and Levi. The nearest airport, Kittilä, is only 40 minutes away.
  
  Originally from Germany, we have been living and working in Lapland for over 10 years. We are certified wilderness guides and enjoy sharing the local lifestyle with our guests and volunteers. Good knowledge of German and English is essential for communication. Also a valid driving license.
  
  Our guests stay in a remote wilderness camp, located 3 km from our private home and kennel. The husky tours are guided by us personally (Linda & Thomas). To keep things running smoothly, we are looking for reliable support for the daily routines around the house and property —and on everything that supports dogs well-being and our work.
  
  Your Doghandler tasks include:
  - Helping with the household and shared living areas, kitchen
  - Cleaning the dog kennels
  - Replacing straw bedding
  - Preparing food for the dogs
  - Help with autumn training
  - Taking care of our older, retired dogs (including free running and general care)
  - Firewood work and keeping the property tidy
  - Helping with the household and shared living areas
  - Supporting us with food preservation, cooking, and berry picking (seasonal)
  - general prepartions (fires, refilling, cleaning help........)
  
  You may also have the chance to ride your own dog team on the sled from time to time, but the main focus is on helping behind the scenes.
  
  Please note that we do not want to create the wrong impression. Our dogs always come first, and working with them carries a great deal of responsibility. For this reason, any direct involvement with the dogs — beyond basic care — is only possible and gradually expandable if it’s the right fit. Because of the dogs, we prefer seasonal helpers with some dog experience. Please get in touch with us if you have questions about visas, registering your address, or obtaining a work permit. Minimum wages ( 11,16 €) according Finish PAM collective agreement, food and accommodation is offered
  
  Feeding, training, and working with our younger sled dogs is handled by ourselves or our permanent staff, including professional dog trainers. You will definitely have contact with the dogs, but the tasks are limited and clearly defined.
  
  German language skills are required.
  As most of our daily communication and safety instructions are in German, a good command of the language is essential. Please only apply if you feel confident communicating in German.
  
  Couples are welcome to apply and experience this adventure together.
  However, please understand that we see and treat each person as an individual volunteer. This means we may not always be able to give you the same days off or assign you to the same tasks. Flexibility and independence are important.
  
  Travelling alone you will have your own room . Travelling as couple you will share a room .
  
  We would also like to emphasize that winters in Lapland can be physically and mentally demanding. The Polar Night brings long periods of darkness, combined with extreme cold, which can be challenging even for experienced travelers.
  
  Please do not apply if you are currently struggling with your mental health, have physical limitations, or suffer from eating disorders. Unfortunately, we are also unable to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, or other special diets during your stay.

  The type of support we need depends strongly on the season and the month you’re with us. While we try to give you a general idea of the tasks involved, flexibility is key — plans can shift due to weather, dog-related needs, or other changes around the farm. You should be open to taking on a variety of tasks, both indoors and outdoors.

  Unterkunft

  Double room (well suited for a couple) on the ground floor of our family home with a guest toilet. Shared living room. Shared bathroom with sauna. Community kitchen. Generally it is a large house that allows privacy. We usually plan meals together. Especially in winter, we also cook larger quantities to provide for the guests.
  Single room if you are alone.

  - Active activities in the area such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, fitness studio... - Visit to the Muonio/Kittilä adult education center with numerous cultural courses. We have very good bus connections to the nearest towns of Muonio and Sirkka (Levi), both 30 km away , which is little by Lapland standards. We also regularly drive this route ourselves. Our property also offers space for your own car or camper.

  Wir haben eine sehr gute Busanbindung in die nächsten Orte Muonio und Sirkka (Levi) beides 30 km entfernt, was wenig für lappländische Verhältnisse ist. Zudem fahren wir selbst auch regelmäßig mit dem Auto diese Strecke.
  Unser Grundstück bietet auch Platz für einen eigenen Wagen oder Camper.

  Digital nomads can rent a own room in our big family house. Internet is 4G . 5 G is somtimes working. Otherwise finnisch lapland is covered well with internet access.
