If you come here, be ready for a fun, loving, a bit chaotic ;) and welcoming family! I spent 3,5 weeks here and the time flew by (a bit too fast..) I felt comfortable right from the start and Silvía and Stephan did their best to make me feel at home. They also let me try a lot of Icelandic food, which was very interesting😂 Tasks are mainly laundry
… read more and cleaning, but you are completely free to plan your own time, so that is very nice. Also sometimes babysit the 2 youngest children, but this was always requested in advance. There are no dogs anymore, only a lovely cat. I really liked the nice conversations I had, movie nights, playing with the kids and if I wanted I could always use the hottub. I even saw the northern lights from it! Yes I enjoyed my time in Akranes. If you want to see more of Iceland, you should go on a tour from Reykjavik. Keep in mind that you sometimes have to go to Reykjavik a day earlier and the bus costs for a return ticket are /- €26. I would recommend this place! Thanks for everything :)

… read more have time to travel by arrangement. As Akranes and Reykjavik are only 1 hour away by bus and the bus connections are great, I was also able to go on many guided tours from Reykjavik. I visited almost all of Iceland and went on many long walks in the area around Akranes. Relaxing in the hot tub in the evening and watching the Northern Lights in the sky is a wonderful way to end the day. I spent 10 days with my friend with this amazing family and we had the time of our life. Everyone was very kind to us, showed us around and showed us real Icelandic life. The work was fun, Akranes was beautiful and seeing the farm was such an amazing experience. I only wish I could have stayed longer, but I am sure we will see each other again!
