I spent 2 months with the hosts Patricio, Phoebe, their kids and their dog, Donna.
In short, an awesome place with great surf vibes.

… read more nothing but the sound of the ocean… I can't think of a better way to start the day.
Tasks were varied, from assisting with lesson preparation, tidying up the school, cleaning the restaurant next door, building an Ikea bed and much more. I have a background in digital marketing so my core task was to support the business with their marketing efforts, including social media content.
The house is beautiful, filled with lots of plants, murals, colours and wonderful characters that wander through the door. It felt like a home, a school, a hangout spot all in one. One amenity that I loved was the kitchen, it’s a large open air space; I loved cooking whatever inspired me that day, with the cool breeze coming in, people wandering about and music being played.
The main benefit was the chance to get water sports lessons, the way this works is when a student has a semi-private or group lesson booked and there aren’t any other students to fill the spots, we the volunteers are able to join that lesson. I was there in the early spring, so bookings were infrequent, but whenever the opportunity came, it was great to learn, especially with the awesome teacher and friend, Raoni.
Thank you to them for the experience and hospitality. This is the first place I stayed in my journey of living in Spain, for that and the experience I had, it will remain a special memory for me.

Hey Workawayers! I spent a week at Patricio and Phoebe’s place. The weather was mostly beautiful and I got to kitesurf in my free time. The work hours were 9:30 - 12:30 and 13:30 - 15:30. Patricio is a clear communicator, there were no misanderstanings about what needed to be done. In preparation for the season we cleaned the restaurant kitchen
… read more (greaaasy, you’re right, Phoebe - a job you only do once in your life :D) in the adjacent restaurant and painted parts of the restaurant. We put in hard work to make it nice and shiny ;) Patricio offered that we could eat at the restaurant at a discount.
During lunch break and in the evenings we cooked together among us workawayers in the outdoor kitchen, which was really inspiring for me. I usually took up washing the dishes, because the others were better at cooking. We shared expenses for food amongst us workawayers.
The hosts at this workaway live separately (they have two babies), so this experience is all about the community among workawayers, which can be very beautiful. Thanks Edu and Zak, it was lovely meeting you! The agreement ist that because you are not fed by the host, you can take lessons at the school, which is valuable.
Patricio wanted us to go swimming amongst us workawayers after our work shift to create a nice community vibe. I enjoy swimming, so I didnt have to to be asked twice :)
The accommodation is an old storage room in a backroom of the kite-school which has been transformed into a shared bedroom with two bunk-beds. We three workawayers shared that room. Dont bring too much stuff, because there is only a little shelf/no wardrobe! ;) The bathroom (shower, toilet, sink) is shared with the customers of the kiteschool.
All in all a sandy, beachy vibe with lots of people around and very good music playing all the time.

… read more enjoy your time to the greatest possible degree, doing whatever you like! The work hours and responsibilities were very flexible, and what they required from me was never unreasonable, and their efforts to make it as enjoyable as possible for each person were very evident!
As overused as this phrase is, I cannot help but rely on it here; You instantly feel like family! With how comfortable and welcome you are made to feel, there is no other way to describe it! Being introduced to their friends & extended family, you soon feel as if you are one of them; you become so graciously absorbed into their world, which is easy to fall in love with!

What a great experience ! This is an amazing place. I stayed around 4 weeks with Patricio and Phoebe. We had such a great time. I was helping in the afternoon with the guest and at the kitesurfing school around 4/5 hours a day. The place is straight on the beach. We were so lucky that we had just arrived here two days before the lockdown in Spain. If we were going to be stuck anywhere we are glad it was there! Patrick and Phoebe made sure that we all kept each other entertained and we all tried to keep each others spirits up during such strange times.

Sadly due to the lockdown restrictions we weren't able to use their equipment or learn to kite surf but that could not be helped and we have no regrets about this workaway experience. I've spent almost 3 months at Patric's place and I was sad to leave. Patric and Pheobe are great hosts, they made me feel at home. The house is very chill, super close to the beach, far from busy places. I got to know the kitesurf world and could take part of it, which I have really appreciated.

… read more the school organized, prepare students and kite material, give course information... it's not that hard, and as I was interested in everything, I learned a lot. The team of kite instructors is really great and made my stay even more pleasant. They are fun people, daily moaners on wind condition (lol), but fun people indeed, I'll miss them.
I didn't speak much Spanish when I arrived but I tried hard, I could practice and improve my Spanish skills with the team. They all speak English and Spanish, and more for some, it was a great opportunity to practice.
In my free time I got to learn and practice Kitesurf, which is just the best. I have also used other material/activities of the school to have fun (paddle board, pilate lessons, snorkeling...). Surroundings like Denia, Xabia... are great too. There was good vibes at the school with the team, so we had many chill evenings, BBQ, paellas, drinks... good times!
I'm so grateful for Patric and Phoebe to have welcomed me there, thank you again for everything! See you soon friends!

Patrick and Phoebe were great hosts, they were always worried about me and the other volunteers, I mean many days were freaking cold and Phoebe even lent me clothes because I wasn't prepared for that weather.
The rules were clear from the beginning, working time, days off, and living conditions, I couldn't complain about it. The communication was alright and any question that I had I didn't hesitate to ask because I knew I could have a clear answer.
They gave me space to create also and have fun with DIY.
I had a great time training with Phoebe, almost every single day. We didn't want this confinement to leave traces hahaha.
I just could say THANKS for having me in COVID-19 time, has been hard times for all of us, that's why I could justify many behaviors we had that could make us feel uncomfortable, no one was expecting this bizarre worldwide situation.
