Beschreibung

We (Denise and Chris) are living in a van now and left our lives in Berlin behind... but took some of the spirit with us, of course, including seeds from the little community garden we ran for the past year:)
Mostly interested in learning about permaculture, reconnecting with nature and living in and running communities and all their different forms and ways of being.

Apart from that, we like to make new friends, help them to improve themselves and share stories, knowledge and so on. We like to be around people who share a similar worldview to ours and are positive that workaway is a great way to do so. We also really enjoy spending time in nature and wanted to get away from the busy city life of Berlin, get our hands dirty and feel what we have done during the day. In this time of late capitalism, we think the world needs more love and more communities, rather than more competition and "innovation".

Together we have travelled the canaries for half a year and spent most of the time helping in different projects, mostly with a focus on gardening and permaculture, but also helping with animals, basic building work, painting walls, windows, furniture... (Denise loves to put paint everywhere),
cooking, and even designing websites and content creation for the projects. We also often took care of the well-being of both hosts and other workawayers when conflicts arose. After this time we got even more serious about permaculture and had the opportunity to spend a month in Senegal visiting and helping in projects by Food Forest Network Sarsarale e.V., who we are still affiliated with and help with graphic design, shooting and editing video, and other tasks. We also love to DJ, Denise for a while already and Chris only since recently, and have a basic set-up with us and would be happy to delight our hosts with a little techno/disco/90's set, if they'd enjoy that :)

Denise is a self-taught artist, last working and living in Berlin. There she focused on abstract art, while curating exhibitions, creating installations and doing workshops. She tries to empower humans to express themselves and hold space for emotions. For years, she also works as a masseuse and learned how important physical touch and bodywork are.
Recently she attended a permaculture design course and would love to dive deeper into the social dimension of permaculture.
Besides that, Denise is an empathic, funny and down to earth person, who easily gets along with people, animals and her way into communities. Always down for massages!

Chris is a video maker and anthropologist. Originally from Switzerland, he "enjoyed" a typical corporate education in finance and accounting, but quickly got disillusioned with the corporate world and got into anthropology and filmmaking. During his MA he joined an activist group focused on Deep Adaptation and became interested in practices from Joanna Macy's The Work that Reconnects. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, dancing, watching and making videos, spending time in nature, hiking, reading books, playing video games, diving and recently got more interested in spirituality and magick and re-discovered discordianism. He also co-hosted a German-speaking podcast about bisexuality. He is an easy-going and curious person who gets along with most people.
