Hi, we are Deborah and Alyson and we have been friends for nearly 30 years. We would love to do a trip together, meet new people, get involved in interesting projects, give something back and experience another side to travel than just as tourists.
I'm Deborah. I love wild places, camping, travelling, hiking, biking and canoeing. These passions take me into the outdoors and into nature where I feel most at home. I'm at my most peaceful sitting by my tent looking out over a Scottish sea loch with my trusty red canoe resting peacefully at the water's edge, waiting for our next little journey.
At other times, I live in a house (!) with my lovely husband, Simon, our two cats Socks and Mojo, and sometimes with our wonderful son, George, when he is between adventures of his own. I love to spend as much time as possible outdoors in our garden and can often be found preparing food, sewing or ironing out there, as well as gardening!
I enjoy connecting with and contributing to our local community in many different ways: , volunteering at our local shop and at a local social cohesion project; joining in with tree-planting and other forest activities at a local scheme; helping women and girls to engage with paddle-sports; Morris dancing with my local side and occasionally joining in with the musicians on my clarinet.
My other great love is being in Greece, the dance of light on rock, seen from the water; hearing the language being spoken all around me, even if I can understand very little of it; and more recently, being in the beautiful mountains, towering over the plains. Volunteering in Greece is giving me a chance to engage more deeply with people, place and culture, as well as the chance to have a little bit of adventure in my life.
Alyson (Aly) and I have been friends since our children were born. We are both retired from work – Aly from nursing, myself from education Aly is a marvellous cook, loves history, music, gardens and generally anything that sounds like fun! She also shares my love of being in Greece. The perfect travel companion for a little road trip and doing something a bit different, in fact.

I am learning Greek. My reading and writing are at an intermediate level, but at speaking and listening comprehension I am probably only beginner level and could definitely use some more practice!
