Hello hello, Workaway!
Here's Kevin, from Italy, a passionate educator trying to create his own life project.

In the second half of 2024, indeed, I opened an association that has the goal to develop uncommon educational projects. Uncommon as they combine education with something typically not supposed to be educational... Like travelling, for instance!

I have been travelling solo for almost 5 years across Northern Europe, Northern America and New Zealand and I have no doubts whatsoever to say that it was by far the most educational experience of my life. In high school and university I surely gained some knowledge about culture, history and many other topics, but very few did I find out about myself.
Travelling brought me out of the comfort zone I had been spending 24 years of my life in and put in front of a mirror: country by country, person by person, experience by experience I collected information about who I was, but especially about who I could potentially be.

Never ever would I have thought before taking my first flight that I would be capable of doing all the stuff I did in those 5 years. Never ever would I have expected in first place to be able to stay away from my family, friends and comfort zone for so long.
That's why I consider travelling one of the best chances of educating oneself. And that's also why I am trying to create what I call "educational trips", trips that are organised with the very purpose of giving the participants the tools to investigate their inner self and purpose of life while staying at a Workaway host.

I discovered Workaway for the first time in Alaska, back in 2017. Ever since it has always been my first preference, as it challenges you continuosly to adapt to different environments and people, offering you in the process the possibility to extend more and more your comfort zone and to limit more and more your tendency to judge people at first sight.
So, I believe that the combination between education, travelling and Workaway could be an incredibile educational concotion!
