Hello!
I’m Mia, 20 years old, and I’m a mix of German, English and Indian.
I speak English and German, and learn Russian. I'm currently a zookeeper at my local zoo and additionally look after horses everyday.
At the moment my dream is to go learn about different ways of looking after animals – and hopefully make myself very useful! I’m really interested in learning from different farms as I’ve only got experience with the equine kind. My favourite farms I’ve helped out at so far have been in Kazakhstan and in India! I've had the privilege of staying with many families during my travels and I'm very respectful of living in other people's homes – I consider myself very adaptable to new situations and people.
I have done an unofficial workaway in Croatia for two months in 2022, helping look after horses on the beach, and giving riding lessons.
I grew up in England and was lucky enough to love horses and take care of my own until he sadly passed away when I was 17. I still look after two mares at the stables I grew up at whenever I’m at home - we have always had near to 50 horses on site, and it is a very no nonsense environment. I’m used to waking up at 5am everyday and working until the evening!
Cycling is my favourite sport – I hope in the next couple of years to embark on a long term cycle trip.
My favourite animals are bats and I can chat for a very long time about them and their importance to the environment. From September 2025 I will be volunteering in Australia in a Bat hospital!

I speak fluent English and German.
I’ve been involved with the Zoo industry for the past two years, and currently when I'm at home I am a cover keeper. This involves managing volunteers, and being responsible for the care, feeding and cleaning for a range of exotic animals. I also do talks to the public - my particular favourites being bats and red pandas.
I've been both a counsellor and coordinator for an English teaching summer camp for kids in Germany for several weeks in holiday seasons over the past two years.
I have been with horses for many years so I can confidently handle horses, but I am always open to learning more about them! I know how to work hard with horses and I'm very happy to 'get my hands dirty' and work hard. I'm used to spending full days running around doing physically demanding jobs with horses.
I've given riding lessons at my stables to beginners both indoors and on the road, and when the owner of the stables has gone away for the weekend I have been in charge over the weekend.
I have previously done an unofficial workaway in Croatia for two months helping to take care of horses on the beach.
I’ve stayed on a farm in Kazakhstan for a week with horses there too.

I have done/do a range of hobbies, some sports include cycling, swimming, hockey and xc running, and I play my saxophone whenever I am at home.
