Hello dear hosts and travelers,

I'm Theresa from Germany and 27 years old.

*Let me have a little review of my past year:*

Last year I was able to go on some great trips and meet lovely people.
With workaway I have had a lot of positive experiences.

For example, I first came into contact with the topic of permaculture in one of the most beautiful and remote places in Spain that I have ever been to. Childcare and plant care were part of my daily tasks. The minimalist and natural way of life, evenings together with music, the beautiful empty beaches, the warm sun that dries the salt water on my skin, the generally relaxed way of life in magical Andalusia...☆

In winter I worked on a sanctuary in snowy southern Sweden. Luckily the roads were clear again when I arrived and I reached the remote farm before dark. Welcomed with open arms, I knew it would be a great time with the 4 other workaways. Luckily, because that meant we could share the work that was waiting for us in the horse and cow stables. We prepared delicacies together every day using simple ingredients and donated food and enjoyed them at dinner together. The homemade sourdough bread tasted better than any other.

Then the exciting journey continued north to Lapland, where mooses cross the roads, where the various white shades of deep winter, covering the endless expanse, are only broken by the deep green of the fir trees and the painted wood of the huts. I have never felt so close to the wilderness. Seeing the colorful northern lights dancing in the sky at night made it one of the most magical moments of my life. It was a contrast to my previous workaway in a kind of commune. Now alone with my host and the dogs. But it was a perfect fit because I love the silence, the snow and of course the dogs.

My last workaway for the time being was a short stay in Switzerland, where I helped with the gardening and renovation of the house together with another workaway. Very hospitable hosts, delicious vegan food and a good starting point to explore Switzerland with a few day trips.

Since my bank account was pretty empty by now, and I might have been too, I looked for a job.

I found a way to maintain my flexibility in terms of location and time by working in a hotel. I spent the last 6 months in Germany, both on the Baltic Sea and in the Allgäu.
Now that I have a few weeks to spare before I start my next job, I would love to use the time for my next workaway experience and support people who have dedicated their time and energy to animals.

NOW it`s the time to travel and take care of myself.
I want to learn, develop and grow :)

I see workaway as a wonderful opportunity to gain valuable experiences for life and to exchange ideas with other open-minded people.

I am also very curious about alternative lifestyles that are more sustainable and close to nature!

I've longed for nature for a long time and I also miss beeing with pets!

Animals make my heart beat faster!
It is a big dream to work at a sanctuary.

In August 2023, I finished my geriatric nursing training.
I also did voluntary work in kindergarten and nursing home for 1 year each.
Treating my fellow human beings with respect and empathy is a matter of course for me.
