    Description

We are Silke & Jan, a german couple, traveling the world since 2018 continuously. A few years ago, we bought a „travel base“ in Bulgaria: a traditional, 150 years old house in the heart of the country we fell in love with.
This year (2024) we will be back to our „base“ in September and need your help!
We want to get our garden in shape! There is a lot of "stupid stuff" lying around in it: lumber, scrap, firewood, leftovers from construction, etc. The stuff is to be disposed of in a garbage container and every helping hand is welcome. If you can use a motor brush cutter, all the better! Some stuff is overgrown or needs to be processed into firewood for the oven or campfire.
We will then make the campfire together - the more often, the better!
We offer either overnight accommodation on a folding sofa in our house or "camping" in the garden house or parking space in front of the house for small to medium-sized vans. Fiber optic WiFi, electricity and washing machine included.
We live close to nature, which is why there is only a (hot!) garden shower and „heart house“ instead of a spa oasis. The garden has no fence, so it is not suitable for dogs. We don’t have a fridge (but a decent coffee machine!), that’s why food is vegetarian to vegan.
Location: Central Bulgaria. Where traditions are particularly deeply rooted and the houses look like from a picture book. Having your own vehicle for excursions is an advantage; if not, we can do it together.

We love Bulgaria and we’re sure you will also do after a stay with us. :-) We‘ll take you to places to fall in love with the country and if you are into it, take you to Bulgarian dance classes.

We are looking for people who love nature, campfire and village life in a very quiet area. If you know how to use a brush cutter without damaging it, it’s a super plus. If not, you are also welcome to fill the wheelbarrow with old tiles and other trash and dump it in a container. :-)
Please only apply if working in nature and simple life is your thing, we don’t offer any luxury. We are budget travelers ourselves and offer travel tales around the campfire and a lot of bulgarian culture after work. We will all work together as a team of likeminded people: you and us two!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a folding sofa in the house.
If you prefer more privacy, you could „camp“ in our garden house (we will provide equipment, if you don’t have your own).
For people traveling with small to medium sized vans, you can park right in front of the house and get electricity and WiFi.
We don’t have anything western people would call „bathroom“. We have a gas-heated hot shower under the pear tree (and 1000 stars!) and the toilet is a little loo in the back of the garden.
As previously stated, we have no fridge, so food will be without anything that needs cooling: no meat etc. We cook seasonal and regional with fresh produce from the farmers market, vegetarian and vegan if you want to.
No fridge also means: no cold beer.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

There is no local transport to/from the village. If you don’t have your own means of transport, we will pick you up from the closest train or bus station.
After work we can take you to the surroundings, like Buzludzha (the „Ufo“), beautiful villages, an open air museum or simply to town, Veliko Tarnovo. There are several beautiful hikes nearby. We have hammocks in the garden for relaxing and enjoying nature.
Please no drugs, only outdoor smoking and only modest alcohol consumption. Any drugs don’t go well with a motor brush cutter. :-)

We used to live in vehicles for around 4 years and know what you need. :-) If your van is not too big, you can park in front of the house and connect to electricity and WiFi. Bigger vehicles will have to park on the other side of the street and can’t get electricity.
