    Description

    We are a community library that welcomes all people without discrimination, the library provides a serene garden environment that motivates engagement of different library programs. We started operation in 2021 due to response of covid 19 with aim of providing educational videos, promoting a strong reading culture and ensuring technological skills.
    Our programs include, lit clubs were kids come and read together with supervision of miss Irene the librarian in order to promote a strong reading culture, digital clubs were we train the teens the 21 basic computer skills, Education research support through providing them with laptops and free Wi-Fi, free borrowing of books.
    Am just a young youth who is interested in latest developments in technology and managing of accounts,
    I love working in a team to positively impact the lives of people with in the community through lit clubs and computer clubs. Am currently working as the administrator to ensure the library fulfills its objectives.
    We work with passionate team members such as Irene the librarian who ensures the kids improve on their reading culture

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    1. Language Exchange: volunteers will have a chance to learn the local language( Luganda).
    2. Cultural Storytelling: we shall share stories about different cultures and traditions from different tribes in Uganda as well as listening to and learning from the personal experiences and stories of the local community.
    3. Traditional Music and Dance opportunity to experience and learn about traditional Ugandan music and dance, including the kiganda dance from Buganda tribe.
    4. Local Cuisine: they will be able learn about and sample traditional Ugandan dishes, such as matooke (steamed or boiled green bananas), chapati (flatbread), and Rolex (a popular street food made with eggs, vegetables, and chapati).
    5. Community Engagement: they will participate in community activities and events, such as book clubs, writing workshops, and children's Storytime sessions.

    We are looking for skilled volunteers who can share their expertise with us.
    we are willing to work with them as a team to ensure all activities align with our mission, vision and goals.

    since our main aim is developing technology in our community, we really need someone to share his/her website development skills as well as other computer skill hence fulfilling our main goal.
    we also need a librarian to guide us on how books are organized and how we can fully utilize all our available resource.
    we have currently started a school were we teach all the kids with in the community who cannot afford school fees, so this calls for teachers to share their skills with us.

    we provide a double roomed house shared with 3 volunteers.

    We shall be serving them locally made dishes.
    for breakfast they will have African tea, porridge and bread.
    for lunch and super they will have matooke, posho, cassava, irish potatoes, sweet potatoes, rice served with sauces like ground nuts, beans.
