Description
CURRENT & URGENT: We are looking for a boat keeper and cat sitter in Cartagena, Colombia from now until mid/end of September. See more details below, after our general introduction..
---
We are a traveling family with three children: two lively boys (13 and 9), a girl (3) and two adults. We, Madeleine and Arne, are just around 40 and probably nice people. In Trinidad we have adopted two kittens.
We live on our sailboat and have been traveling "full time" since 2019. As you might imagine, we love being outdoors and always experiencing new things. We appreciate a resource-reduced and simple life. We speak German, English and very limited French.
After sailing in and around Greece, we found a bigger and more stable boat on the other side of the Atlantic. So we sold our boat in the Mediterranean and bought this project boat in the Caribbean. Our new boat is a Reinke 15M made of aluminum. Last year, we spent six months in Trinidad doing a major refit - that means we repaired and replaced almost everything, from the engines to the electrics, the plumbing, the paint, ... Everything needed a lot of love and care. We had planned to only do the most important technical things so that we could get the boat back in the water as quickly as possible. Of course, it took us longer than expected.
Now we are back in the water, but there is still a lot to renovate, especially inside, to make our home beautiful, practical and cozy. The photos show us and a few of the beautiful sides of sailing. But don't be mistaken - life on board is often quite strenuous and involves a lot of work. Working on a boat is also rarely easy - it's often dirty or in a very cramped environment.Types of help and learning opportunities

You will get to know a part of boat life. You will meet nice people (boaters community, including us :)), and see Cartagena.
Help
We are looking for someone who would like to live on our boat in Cartagena from early July to the end of September. We will fly to Europe and cannot leave the cats there alone. The person must be reliable, commit firmly to this period, and in the best case have some technical understanding, as things on boats are often quite sensitive. It's good to be able to help yourself in unexpected situations. But let's talk about this in person.
The boat is in a Marina, in the water. It's easy to get to the center of Cartagena with a cheap Uber. The Marina provides showers and laundry. Everything else is on board.
If you feel up to the task and are looking forward to a great time in the Caribbean, get in touch!Languages
