Description
My name is Michael. I am 58 years old and I moved to La Palma 3 years ago from Germany to develop finca - a place I had bought almost 25 years ago and for which I have the vision to develop into a place where spiritually minded people can share community experiences.
The finca includes a house with pool, two caravans and a yurt which is currently used for meditation and kirtan.
There is plenty of space to practice yoga.
The finca is located in the green northeast of the island of La Palma in the municipality of Puntallana. The 1 ha property also includes a fruit tree garden in a so-called Barranco, which is reached by a footpath of about 3 minutes. The barranco gets its basic structure from an already existing terracing, includes a water collection cave and extensive irrigation. The initial tree population consists of avocado, mango, papaya, khaki, figs, pomegranate, cherimoya, mandarins, oranges, lemon, The mild desert climate of La Palma with a relative abundance of rainfall together with the wind-protected location in the barranco allows the cultivation of a variety of mainly subtropical fruits.
Gardening is currently the main focus of the development work on finca but some construction projects to develop the outdoor area are also pending and awaiting administrative approval.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We can practise Spanish together and you can of course try out your Spanish in contact with the locals - for example at the market on Saturdays.
You can gain an insight into everyday family life with a small child and learn lots of things about childcare.
Help
To allow me to better focus on the countless gardening and smaller construction tasks at hand, I am looking for a workawayer - or a couple - to support me with the daily household chores such as cooking, cleaning, shopping and general maintenance.
You will mainly work around the house so that I am free for administrative, construction and gardening tasks. Typical daily tasks include household chores such as vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning the pool, cooking, watering plants (usually with drip irrigation or a hose). Small gardening tasks may include weeding or planting.
The helping hours should be weekdays in the mornings with afternoons free as this coincides best with my own schedule.
The helping hours are 5 hours daily (25 hours/week).Languages

I have been on La Palma for three years and I spend dedicated time learning Spanish. You are welcome to accompany me on shopping trips, visits, etc. in your free time and join me for visits of my local Spanish friends.Accommodation
You will be accommodated in a spacious caravan with electricity and internet connection and a comfortable double bed. The caravan is placed to include a shaded outside terrace. You have access to an outdoor shower (warm) and toilet with a spectacular view of the sea.
Cooking as part of your workaway chores you will perform in the kitchen of the main house. Otherwise, you can use the well-equipped cooking facilities in the caravan. You can take whatever you need with you, mainly vegetarian food. What else ...
The nearest bus stop is about a 20-minute walk from the finca. You can either get a lift from me (I am quite frequently on the move) or catch line 100 (Santa Cruz - Barlovento) and go to Santa Cruz. The bus ride takes about 25 minutes.
There are plenty of lovely swimming spots on the east side of the island - the city beaches of Santa Cruz, the slightly touristy Los Cancajos, the sea pools at Charco Azul or La Fajana in the northeast. Best of all, the spectacular Playa de Nogales beach, is within walking distance from us. It is the main spot in La Palma for surfing.
La Palma has a well signposted network of hiking trails. The Camino Real, a path that circles the whole island, passes almost in front of our front door. The Roque de los Muchachos (with 2,426 m the highest mountain on the island), the observatories located up there and the Los Tilos waterfall are tourist highlights of the island. A visit to the volcano that erupted in 2022 and a drive on the newly built road through the lava are also worthwhile.A little more information
