  Welcome to my home in San Isidro! I´m Mari and I live with my friend Oscar, three dogs, two cats and the occasional sloth. I take care of the house, the garden, and manage a room upstairs. Oscar works as a driver for a tour company and is out most days, so I am looking for some company and help with the daily tasks. In your free time you can borrow the bicycles and go to our local river, take the bus to La Fortuna and the surrounding area, or just relax at home in a hammock and cool off in the pool.

  Bienvenidos a mi casa en San Isidro. Soy Mari y vivo con mi amigo Oscar, tres perros, dos gatos y algún que otro perezoso. Cuido la casa, el jardín y administro una habitación en el piso de arriba. Oscar trabaja como conductor para una empresa de turismo y está fuera la mayoría de los días, así que estoy buscando un poco de compañía y ayuda con las tareas diarias. En el tiempo libre podrás ir en bicicleta al río, tomar el autobús a La Fortuna y los alrededores, o simplemente relajarse en casa en una hamaca y refrescarse en la piscina.

  We know a lot about the region and good local spots to go to avoid the high tourist prices. Don´t hesitate to ask us anything, we love to share with visitors. You will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish, and Oscar speaks good English if needed. We like to take volunteers to the river, and there are also regular buses to La Fortuna where you can enjoy various activities on days off, such as hot springs, volcanoes, waterfalls and nature reserves!

  Conocemos mucho sobre la región y buenos lugares locales a los que ir para evitar los altos precios turísticos. No dudes en preguntarnos cualquier cosa, nos encanta compartir con los visitantes. Tendrás la oportunidad de practicar tu español, y Oscar habla bien inglés si es necesario. Nos gusta llevar a los voluntarios al río y a las pozas, y también hay autobuses regulares a La Fortuna, donde se puede disfrutar de diversas actividades en los días libres, como aguas termales, volcanes, cascadas y reservas naturales!

  Sweeping up the leaves from paths every day

  Keeping the swimming pool free of bugs & leaves
  Daily sweeping & moping of the floors
  Help keeping the shared spaces tidy
  Occasional deep cleaning of the walls and cupboards
  
  Let the dogs out for 30 minutes during the day while Oscar is working, or take them for a walk with you. Feed the cats when they ask for it.
  
  Art and decoration ideas always welcome! There are stones which can be painted if you like to.
  
  If you have a driving license, I will need the occasional lift into town as I can´t drive myself because of my poor eyesight.

  Dejar salir a los perros 30 minutos durante el día mientras Oscar está trabajando, o llevarlos a pasear contigo. Dar comida a los gatos cuando la piden.

  Si tienes carnet de conducir, necesitaré que me lleves de vez en cuando a la ciudad, ya que no puedo conducir por mi mala vista.

  Accommodation

  There is a private room for volunteers with a double bed, a TV and space to store clothes.
  The shower (with hot water) & toilet are shared with Oscar.
  Food is provided and volunteers will have full access to the kitchen. Oscar and I eat very little so we will not join for every meal, but you can cook when you´re hungry.
  There is wifi, hammocks around the house for relaxing and a swimming pool at the back.
  We also have a laundry machine available.

  Hay una habitación privada para los voluntarios con una cama doble, un televisor y espacio para guardar la ropa.
  La ducha (con agua caliente) y el aseo se comparten con Oscar.
  Se proporciona comida y los voluntarios tendrán pleno acceso a la cocina. Oscar y yo comemos muy poco, así que no nos reuniremos para cada comida, pero puedes cocinar cuando tengas hambre.
  Hay wifi, hamacas alrededor de la casa para relajarse y una piscina en la parte de atrás.
  También tenemos una lavadora disponible.

  Some things to take into account...
  Unless you are walking them, please make sure the dogs don´t escape when you leave the house.
  Lock the door if you are the last person to leave
  Please dry and put away all dishes after using them and don´t leave any food lying around as animals can get into the kitchen
  Please think of the planet and close taps and switch lights off when you are done.
  We have a compost system to separate the organic trash.

  Algunas cosas a tener en cuenta...
  A menos que los estés paseando, por favor asegúrate de que los perros no se escapan cuando salgas de la casa.
  Cierra la puerta con llave si eres la última persona en salir
  Seca y guarda los platos después de usarlos y no dejes comida por ahí, ya que los animales pueden entrar en la cocina.
  Piensa en el planeta y cierra los grifos y apaga las luces cuando termines. Tenemos un sistema de compostaje para los residuos orgánicos.
