Description
Hi, I have an off grid 5 acre medicine farmstead in Southern Nicaragua. I'm from the UK originally and moved to Nicaragua in 2018. I created my farm, to be a medicine arts centre. There are herb and veggie gardens, there's an aerial rig for silks and trapeze, there's a big art studio where I write and paint and there are 2 houses on the property and a rustic cabin. It's an oasis of calm here and I'm always looking for help making beautiful things (wood work, art, photography, gardening, making food amongst other things).

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a place where it's encouraged to speak and learn spanish. There are 2 full time workers here who speak only spanish and spanish language learning is an important part of your stay. Lucy, your host speaks English (native language) and Spanish.
During your stay I can suggest ways in which you can get to know and help out in the local community. The stuff needed in the local community includes beach clean ups and helping out with local building projects if that's your thing.Help
I'm looking for help in the following areas:
- Working with medicinal herbs, and garden produce : This is a big area of growth - the garden has lots of medicinal herbs and I'm wanting to make herbal medicines to sell and I need help in this area - this can include working with the herbs directly if you have some know how about medicinal plants and how to make salves, tinctures, teas etc it can also include helping with design to make labels and packaging....
- Work in the garden: If you have permaculture and organic gardening experience you're welcome to come and share your knowledge and help in the garden.
- Carpentry: I have wood from trees that are grown on the property (teak, laurel, balsa) that's ready for working with - shelves are needed and other things (I also have dreams of making a surf board with balsa wood).
- Natural pool building: This is a project that has been on my to-do list for a while...
- Maintenance: In Nicaragua the weather is intense and everything requires maintenance every year ... if you're good at fixing stuff ... painting... plumbing... electrical ... there's work :)
- Content creation for social media
- Art - I mentioned we are a medicine arts center - if you're an artist let me know ... artists residencies are one of the offerings hereLanguages spoken

Accommodation
You'll stay in one of the guest rooms in the main house (my home) or in the guest cottage depending on availability. You'll have your own bathroom if you're in the guest cottage or a shared bathroom with up to one other if you're in the main house. There is also a small cabin on the property which is available if you like a more rustic spot to yourself. (The cabin has electricity and a good roof and a sink but you'd share a bathroom in one of the houses). For food you'll help share in the cooking some of the days. Two to three days a week we have help with cleaning and cooking the other days we share in making food ourselves.
What else ...
While you're here you can take walks in the beautiful countryside, you can go to the local beaches, you can surf and you can visit the nearby town of san juan. I'd recommend looking at renting a bike if possible during your stay. There are a couple of motorbikes at that are sometimes available to rent by the day.
A little more information
Internet access
Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
Can host digital nomads
We have been a favourite spot for many digital nomads. It's got great wifi and consistent energy (no power cuts) which can be hard to find here in Southern Nicaragua. We don't have power cuts because we're off grid with good solar capacity and each house has it's own wifi.
How many Workawayers can stay?
