Description
We're a cosy social hostel just a few minutes walk from the beautiful beaches of Mirissa. We're looking for social hosts to join us for the season - you'll be a friendly face around the hostel and also help us plan and run different events throughout the week.
Mirissa is a backpacker hotspot with great coffee spots, local restaurants, parties, turtles, surfing and more; so you'll never be short of something to do.
Our small team is made up of 3 friendly local staff; one on reception, one for cleaning/maintenance and one who is a fantastic cook! We have a lovely family vibe between ourselves and would love welcome you.
We’re seeking volunteers to help run our daily social events and bring good energy to the hostel. You'll make sure guests feel at home and have fun during their stay. If you’re enthusiastic, sociable, and love help with people, we’d love to hear from you!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You'll be able to spend a lot of time with our local staff and learn about Sri Lankan customs, cooking and everyday life. Our staff speak both Sinhala and Tamil, so you'll have lots of opportunities to learn a new language. Our hostel chef is a wonderful local woman who would be more than happy to share with you some of her delicious recipes!
Help
As a social host your main role will be to help us create a warm, fun atmosphere and help us planning and running different events. We're looking for warm, friendly, inclusive and high-energy people.
Your Responsibilities:
Be a friendly face that makes guests feel comfortable around the hostel.
Help organize and lead our nightly events (5 nights a week)—from family-style dinners to beach parties and surf trips.
Take guests to events, ensure everyone feels included, and help them have a great time.
Post daily instagram stories showcasing what we've been up to.
Engage with guests in our Whatsapp chat and use this to help coordinate events.
Come up with new ideas for activities and let your creativity run wild (not required of every volunteer but we're always open to new ideas!)
Most of our events are in the evening so you'll have a lot of time during the day to yourself to enjoy the hostel and local area. However, we are looking for people that genuinely thrive of being around others - so our ideal volunteer will want to hang out with guests outside of just their volunteering responsibilities.

Accommodation
You’ll stay in one of our 6-bed AC dorms. We provide a delicious free breakfast every day. Lunch and dinner can also be provided. Plus, you’ll enjoy discounts on additional food and drinks at the hostel. For party nights on a Wednesday, you'll even get free drinks and pizza!
