Description
We (The Schmids) are a family farm project located near the town of Knysna. Our main source of income is the artisan manufacture of wholesome, organic grain products. In 2014, we decided to leave our home country (Germany) and migrate to South Africa with nothing but an Austrian Mill and a pasta machine.
Over the years, we have built our name as one of the few manufacturers of organic, ancient grain products in SA. We run a bistro and shop in Knysna, selling our products and cooking up healthy food for body and soul.
Living here gives us more freedom but also greater responsibilities. We never get bored; every day brings new, exciting projects and challenges, whether it's fixing the toilet or milking the goats. Although we have learned to do many things, there are times when we need some help and a new person to bring in a fresh mindset and good vibes. We are all multitaskers, meaning we do many things at once.
If you don't get tired of work and "adventure," this is the place for you.
What kind of people are we? We are a family composed of a mother, Adelheid (63), and her three adult children, Adrian (41), David (39), and Clara (22). Each of us has lived a very different life in the past. Now, we have come together to pursue a project that we all contribute to and that benefits each of us individually. We strive to think creatively and welcome the lessons that life teaches us.
While we work closely with nature, we do not identify as hippies or conform to mainstream norms - we prefer not to label ourselves.Types of help and learning opportunities
