Description
*looking for a couple or 2 friends that want to help us maintain our building and garden: gardening, cleaning, restoring, some painting. Specific skills are very welcome! Note: unfortunatelly we cannot welcome pets.*
We are a group of people living in a former monestry, in Sambeek (south of the Netherlands, between Nijmegen and Venray). We are a living community with 20 people (1-75 years old). We don't have a specific religion. We have our own households and beliefs, and share a (1 hectare) garden with vegetable garden, chicken, bees and a lot of fruit trees. In general, we try to have a sustainable lifestyle.
Together we run a non-profit organisation to maintain the monestry: building and garden. We also give shelter to people that are in need of a home, host concerts and have a cultural and societal role in the neighbourhood. Some of us are getting a bit older, so any help is welcome, for small and easy projects that don't need much specialty. We prefer to host 2 persons.
Throughout the week we all do our specific chores: someone of us love to work in the garden, others like to do building tasks or administration. Once a month we organise a "chores-day": we eat, drink, socialise and do maintenance work. A lovely day with commitment!
Our workawayers may have their own quiet room in our former library. Usually we place 2 seperate beds. In summer, there's also the possibility of using a tent in our garden, or in case you travel by campervan, this could be possible too!Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are very grateful for your help, in any way. In return you can experience a very peaceful and quiet stay within a living community in a former monestry, in a small town surrounded by countryside. A very unique way to experience the Netherlands (nothing like Amsterdam!). And a special way of life which we would like to share with others. You will learn about living in a community: how we co-live yet have our private life, and how we share all the tasks that come with running a non-profit organisation. Throughout the day and throughout the week you will run into all of us occasionally.
Help
We invite two workawayers (couple or friends) to help us with general maintenance (painting, restoring, cleaning, DIY projects, building and garden work). People that have a specific skill are very welcome!

You will be sleeping and chilling in your own private room, where it is usually quiet and you don't have any direct neighbours. It is our former library so it is a very special room! For an impression: see our photo's. There's a shared kitchen available to use for breakfast and lunch for which the ingredients will be provided. We will either cook dinner for you, or supply you with ingredients, or occasionally share dinner within our households.
There's a good Wifi connection everywhere.
In summer we also have the opportunity of a large tent in our garden, for people that prefer sleeping under the stars. What else ...
In your free time, you will be able to relax in our 1 hectare garden, go cycling in the countryside, or take a train to visit Nijmegen city, Amsterdam and Utrecht.
Unesco heritage "Maasheggen" area is closeby (and famous).A little more information
