    Description

Hello! My name is Mamuka. I’m 29 years old and live in Georgia, around 500 km from the capital city. I’m based in a remote and very special mountain village called Ushguli. Together with my family, I run a small guesthouse where we host tourists — and sometimes I also guide them through the local area.

We welcome guests from many different countries, mostly from Europe and some from Asia. Ushguli is well known for its breathtaking nature and unique medieval architecture. It’s also the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe, which makes it a unique destination for mountain lovers and hikers.

We love meeting people from around the world and sharing our culture and lifestyle. You’ll get a real taste of life in the mountains and be part of our daily rhythm.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities:

While staying with us in Ushguli — one of the highest continuously inhabited villages in Europe — Workawayers will have the opportunity to truly immerse themselves in Svan culture. We love sharing stories about our traditions, music, cuisine, and the unique way of life in the Caucasus mountains. You’ll be part of our daily life, whether helping at the guesthouse or joining us for meals. We cook traditional Georgian food and are happy to teach you how to make dishes like khachapuri, kubdari, or chakapuli.

You’ll also have the chance to explore stunning nature, hike nearby trails, and interact with local villagers. We treat Workawayers like family and value honest communication, warmth, and good energy. In return, we are eager to learn more about your culture and language, and to exchange life experiences. Our goal is to create friendships and memories that go beyond work.

I'm looking for someone to help with general housekeeping in our guesthouse — mostly cleaning rooms and common areas. Occasionally, we may cook meals together for the household (not for paying guests), which can be a fun cultural exchange. No tasks will involve serving or preparing food or drinks for guests.

I can offer an independent room for Workawayers, ensuring privacy and comfort during your stay. The room is simple but cozy, with basic amenities such as a bed, clean linens, and towels. You'll have access to shared bathroom facilities with hot water.

As part of the cultural exchange, I also offer free meals (breakfast and dinner), where you can experience traditional Georgian cuisine and enjoy the family atmosphere.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In your free time, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the beauty of Ushguli and its surroundings. The area is a hiker's paradise with many scenic trails through the mountains, offering stunning views and the chance to discover hidden spots. You can also visit the historic Svan towers, which are unique to this region and a major part of local culture.

The village itself is very peaceful and provides a chance to disconnect from the busy world. If you enjoy photography, this place is perfect for capturing the beauty of nature, architecture, and local life. For those interested in history, you can explore local museums and learn about the rich history of Svaneti.

Getting around is easy; Ushguli is accessible by car, though it’s remote, and there is public transport from the nearest city of Mestia, which is around 45 km away. In Mestia, there are buses, taxis, and even small aircraft that offer transportation options, so you can easily explore more of the region during your time off.
