Description
My children (13, 18, 20) and I live in beautiful Yarrow, BC, a farming village twenty minutes from the larger centres of Chilliwack and Abbotsford, and an hour from Vancouver.
Our home is in a cohousing community of 33 homes and 20 acres of farmland. There are wonderful river and mountain trails all around us to enjoy on bikes or by foot.Types of help and learning opportunities

Our family joins weekly community dinners in the common house as well as monthly work parties. There are often activities in the broader Yarrow community. I paddleboard at Cultus Lake each week and would be glad to bring you to use my extra boards.
Help
I'd love help with our farm plot (just under half an acre of the overall 20-acre farm) -- I am creating new planting beds, the grape trellises need tightening, and there are all of the usual farm activities: mowing, planting, weeding, harvesting, etc... . I've recently purchased a different home in the ecovillage (right next door to where we've been living since 2011), so there are also projects related to the move: painting, organizing.
10% of your Workaway time can be spent on larger ecovillage community projects that appeal to you: we have a riparian zone where Stewart Creek flows through the farm and we also have 2 kilometres of perimeter paths that can use mowing or trimming alongside other neighbours. There are monthly work parties, and there are different opportunities for projects inside the common house if that is more appealing to you.
I will not be requesting any help with selling produce (or anything) to the public.Languages spoken

Private bedroom with queen or twin beds. Bathrooms are shared.
Food will be available for self-catered breakfast and lunch; we'll frequently sit down to dinner as a group (usually at home with my kids but weekly at the ecovillage common house and sometimes with my neighbouring parents).
Workawayers will also have access to the ecovillage common house (music room, art room, ping pong table, community activities, etc...)What else ...
Bus 66 brings people out from Vancouver (Lougheed Skytrain station) to Chilliwack or Abbotsford. Bus service right into Yarrow is only a few times a day, but I can pick you up from Sardis.
It is sometimes possible to join ecovillage neighbours on their trips into the city.
Beautiful river trails are within 600 metres of our home; hiking/mountain biking trails are a 5-minute drive and Cultus Lake (excellent paddleboarding) is 14 minutes away. Yarrow is a sweet village within the larger municipality of Chilliwack: our farm is also located in the small Yarrow "downtown" with a library branch, a few restaurants and shops, and a wonderful community park where the local farmer's market takes place.A little more information
