** Must have at least 1 year experience taking care of 2-4 year olds, as a nanny, daycare / preschool worker, or regular babysitter. References required.

** as at June 2025, we are looking for someone to start asap and to stay at least 2 months.

We are a 1 mom and 2 kid (3.5 year old + baby) family living in beautiful Vancouver, BC, close to downtown but still in a community minded and safe residential neighbourhood. We are a pretty active but laid back family. We are friendly and love to meet new people from around the world!
We live a 2 min walk to Commercial drive, a vibrant street full of cafes, restaurants, some bars, local shops and close to many parks (ranked the 5th "coolest" street in the world by Time Out magazine). It's about 20 min to get downtown via bike (we have one you can use), or 30 min via transit. 1 hour to Squamish (the outdoor recreation capital of Canada) and 2 hours to Whistler.

We love to explore the outdoors around Vancouver! You would be welcome to join us on day trips up to the local mountains, lots of amazing skiing/snowboarding within 30 min - 2 hours away from Dec-April and lots of beautiful hikes from May -Nov. The local beaches are super fun in July and August. Vancouver has many street festivals happening in the spring - summer as well, which is a great way to connect with the local community.
You would learn skills such as how to entertain a toddler and cooking different types of food. We would also love to learn about the food that you like and try it out if you want to make it.

I'm looking for help with a 3.5 year old and cleaning up after dinner, 5 evenings a week from about 4:30pm-8:30pm.

    Typically, from 4:30pm - 7pm, you will :
    - Play with 3.5 year old while I make dinner and take care of baby.
    - Plan specific daily activities to do with 3.5 year old (art / sports / games / building / reading etc)
    - Help feed 3.5 year old dinner

Occasionally we may be out until a bit later and would ask that you do some light housekeeping until we get home.

    From 7- 8:30pm
    - While I do baths/stories with kids, you will clean up after dinner and playtime, prepare 3.5 year old's daycare lunch for the next day (mostly just cutting up fruit), fold/put away kids laundry.

Looking for someone who loves kids, and has at least one year of experience working with preschoolers as a nanny, at a daycare / preschool or regular babysitting.

You will need to take initiative by planning activities like art / building / toys / games. Need a variety to keep preschooler engaged and off the tv :) Lots of ideas online.

    Accommodation

You'll have your own large bright bedroom on the third floor of our townhouse, overlooking the trees on Victoria Drive. You'll also have a mostly private bathroom on the same floor (we need it a few nights a week for kids baths but otherwise, all yours). The 3rd floor also has my office/kids playroom but the other bedrooms/bathrooms are on the second floor, so pretty separate.
We will provide breakfast (typically you would help yourself to cereal/fruit/bagels), lunch (typically you would help yourself to groceries to make a sandwich, salad or pasta) and dinner (we will make it together / eat together).

On nights off, you are more than welcome to stay for dinner but will need to help by either cooking or cleaning up after. Also ok if you want to go out and see the city but you will need to be responsible for your own dinner then (or you can make it when you get home).

    What else ...

The local neighbourhood is super walkable and fun with tons to do close by. But we are also only about a 10 minute walk from the sky train station that really opens up all of Vancouver and the surrounding area for you to explore.
Vancouver is a very bike friendly city with lots of bike lanes and routes, and of course the sea wall (a scenic waterfront route around the city with many beaches along the way), which is only a 10 minute bike ride away from our home. We have a bike you can borrow.
Generally, we are in bed by 9pm and up around 6am/7am, but that does not mean you need to keep those hours! We do ask for quiet between those hours though. The townhouse is 3 floors, and in the morning we will be on the first floor which means you should be able to sleep in if you like :)
