    Description

Since we will be living part time in Venice and the rest of the time in Asolo, we are looking for a skilled helping-hand who can contribute by helping using permaculture methods and apply their manual building skills to help us improve garden and house details or do landscape tasks. The person must love being immersed in nature, tending the garden and providing loving care to our ageing animals and of putting creative skills into their help.
Communication is very important to us, as well as honesty, transparency and silence.
Because we are often away, the person that decides to come should be rather independent, responsible and able to work on daily chores independently as well as collaboratively, together.
The magic of this place is that it is close to many beautiful towns like Bassano and Castelfranco. but nestled in the woods of the hills of Asolo.
Longer stays are very much appreciated - at least 2 weeks or more - since by the time one gets the hang of things the days roll by.

Due to past experience, note that we cannot provide workaways with a residency address in Asolo in order for you to gain citizenship...sorry.

At present, looking for someone to stay starting the 20th of July 2025.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I can teach Italian, some cooking and about wild edibles. In exchange for my intensive schedule I usually take my guest away on tours of the area, sharing my time to explore some of the lovely spots the area offers if the workaway wishes to integrate to my circle of friends,.

  • Help

    Help

The tasks entails spending 4 or 5 doing the general rounds of feeding and cleaning the animals, doing some permaculture tasks, planting and preparing the vegetable patch, helping to clear the woods by rearranging the logs into swales or land art installations, maintenance of the tiny pond, setting up a food forest and doing general tasks around the land and house to make it ever nicer and well groomed.
Help is usually performed form 8 till 11am, and before sunset, from 5 to 6 pm, one last round to feed the goat, make sure the hens are in the coop and the cats are fed.
Doing tasks independently and responsibly is a MUST, as well as being familiar with basic gardening and permaculture techniques.

Workaways have meals provided. Because we are often away or working and do not have regular eating hours the workaway should be willing to prepare own meals and all the necessary food is available in a pantry.

If you feel to be the right person, we'd be happy to take you on and share this bit of our project with you.
Longer stays are preferred so that you can get the hang of things and enjoy the routine work with greater freedom and space to also do other things.

    What else ...

Asolo is a littel village in the heart of Veneto, it is 18 km from the bigger towns of Castelfranco Veneto and from Bassano or Montebelluna and near smaller gems like Maser and Valdobbiadene. A car is highly recommended but I do have bicycles and there are bus connections.
Plenty of hills to do some hiking.
