Description
Hi Workawayers,
We are situated in the heart of Raglan in a nice little tucked away valley (walking distance to the town center). On our private property there are a few dwellings, two main houses, a yurt and a tiny house.
Our little valley community is made up of two couples, one in the yurt and one in the main houses, and a family of 4 (two children aged 9 and 11) in the second house. There are also 7 chicken, two bunnies, and 3 cats.
Raglan is renowned for its world-class surf, particularly the iconic left-hand breaks at Manu Bay, Whale Bay and Indicators which draw surfers from around the globe. Beyond surfing, Raglan is also a hub for other water sports such as kiteboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and the increasingly foiling. But the town offers much more than just ocean adventures, Raglan boasts a vibrant and creative community, reflected in its eclectic mix of boutique shops, cozy cafés, some bars and restaurants. The town has a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere, with a strong focus on sustainability, local arts, and community-led initiatives. Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation in a yoga class, or inspiration in one of the local art studios, Raglan has something to offer.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We do bond fires (depending on conditions) in our little valley community where we will be happy for you to join.
We will try to invite you for dinners or have shared dinners at our place to share and get to know you.
Raglan is a thriving community with many different groups and interests so if you are into surfing, kiting, other watersports, arts, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, etc. you will be able to find like minded people to connect with.Help
We are looking for someone to help around our private property (1 person or a couple probably best, but can be two friends) who can help with garden tidy-up (lawns, weeds and pruning, etc.) and other small tasks in our property (e.g. clearing out the storm water drains, extending the garden, small projects, etc.).
We get inspired by the skills you bring, so we will be happy to create little projects on our private property around specific skills that you have. For example, if you know about permaculture we will thrilled if you can bring some of these ideas to our private garden. If you are into wood working we have a small woodworking shed where you can get creative.Languages

You will live in the tiny house. It has a loft area with a double bed (we provide bedding and linen), and a semi outside (complete closed in) kitchen and bathroom area. The kitchen is well equipped with a gas cooker, fridge, water cooker, etc. The bathroom area has shower with hot water and a composting toilet. The house is fully insulated, and there is a wood burner to keep the place cosy on those colder days.
You will be responsible for your own food, and all cooking facilities are provided in your own kitchen. We do enjoy sharing meals so will be happy to organise shared meals every once in a while. What else ...
We are located in Raglan town so there is public transport to the area, but for moving around Raglan (e.g. going to the beach) it is good to have your own vehicle.
