    Description

Hello, my name is Dermot and I will be your host should you wish to join in and experience my farm. We are a family farm near the Wicklow mountains about one hours drive south of Dublin city. I have been hosting workaways for a few years now and enjoy meeting new people and sharing my experience in farming life.
My family and I try to give you an experience that is not just about Christmas trees but would include learning. You will meet other local families and helpers and enjoy the beautiful village of Grangecon with its very popular cafe and pub.
Although you will not be staying in our house we do have a very comfortable mobile home in the farmyard which is self catering but we will also try to have some meals all together.
My father and I are very much part of the team during the harvest and we will be working with you throughout. The Christmas tree harvesting is physical help and despite what the weather is doing still has to be done! It is very much a team focused event and can be great fun and an experience that you wont forget.

Our farm is very much family run and during your stay you will get to meet all my extended family and experience their hospitality. The farm has a lot of different enterprises on it and besides Christmas trees we have sheep, some tillage, forestry and a fishing lake. I would hope that I can teach you some of the ways of farming each of these. During the Christmas tree work you will be working with a team of locals which is a fun way of meeting new people, improving your english and experiencing different cultures. I am a keen traveller and am always interested in learning about different countries and cultures so I look forward to meeting new people.

Hi Workaways, we are a family run farm about one hour south of Dublin in Co. Wicklow. I am looking for some paid help for our Christmas tree harvest in mid November for a couple of weeks. The work is physical and has to be done regardless of the weather conditions! There will be a team of workers involved so it will be an opportunity to meet local people and earn some good money to help fund the rest of your trip.

We live in a beautiful area of Co. Wicklow with a local village one mile from the farm which has a very popular cafe and pub. There are lots of lovely walks in the area with the Wicklow mountains only 20 minutes drive away. You can have the loan of some bicycles and explore the local towns or try some fly fishing on our lake. There are daily buses to Dublin from the local town if you wish to see the city sights.
