    Description

We're Ashleigh and Michael – a friendly couple living in Auckland with our baby and our sweet (and sometimes goofy) dog. We're both creative, love good food, and are passionate about sharing stories, music, and ideas with new people.

We started hosting Workawayers when we were finishing up our home renovation and quickly found that we loved the cultural exchange, the help, and the great conversations. We've taken a short break with the arrival of our baby, but we’re now looking forward to welcoming visitors again and sharing our little corner of New Zealand.

Our place is in a quiet suburb not far from the city, with easy access to public transport, bush walks, and local markets. You’ll have your own cozy space in our container home and shared access to the kitchen, bathroom, and living areas. We often cook meals together and love trying new recipes from around the world.

We offer a cozy, fully furnished and insulated container sleepout with a double bed, fresh linens, a private deck, and a basic kitchen setup. It’s separate from the main house, so you’ll have your own space to relax and unwind.

The space has power and WiFi, and we’re currently in the process of connecting water. Until then, you’re welcome to use the kitchen and bathroom inside the main house.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During your time off, there are plenty of activities to enjoy in Hillcrest and the surrounding areas. You can explore the nearby parks, take leisurely walks, or visit the local markets. If you enjoy music, you might want to check out some gigs or live performances in the area. For those who love the outdoors, there are many beautiful walks and trails to discover with our dog, Dali. Additionally, the shops at Birkenhead and Glenfield are great for a bit of retail therapy.

We have excellent public transport options, making it easy to get around. Buses are frequent, and there are convenient routes to the CBD and other parts of Auckland. We also provide a bike that you can use to explore the local area. If you need to travel further, our van is available for occasional use.

Here are a few house rules to ensure everyone has a comfortable stay:

-Be gentle and kind to Dali, our black lab, and help with her care as needed.
-Respect the shared kitchen, bathroom, and living areas, and clean up after yourself.
