  We live in Calle Larga, V Cordillera Region, in the Valle Alegre sector. Calle Larga is 1 hour from Santiago or 2 hours from Valparaiso. People live from mining and agriculture. There are many adobe buildings, especially "tapial". It is a quiet place, with clear skies, despite being close to Santiago, it still maintains the essence of the countryside.
  We are surrounded by agricultural farms that export clementines, grapes and grow alfalfa grass. We are a small family with 6 dogs of different ages. We want to share our knowledge in "quincha" construction and what we have learned about agriculture. We are waiting for the agricultural season to begin to plant vegetables. In the house we have fine plaster (sand + earth, lime), paint walls, we want to make our clay oven. We have a lot of work both in finishing the house and agriculture, chipping firewood, cleaning irrigation ditches, sowing, harvesting and above all, going out to sell our products "out loud" and planting trees.
  In winter it is very cold, in summer the heat is stifling, so we work early outside and in the afternoons inside the house. We get up between 7 and 8 in the morning and only then do we organize the day.
  I love this place for the sunset, for the sunrises, for the birds you see in the mornings and at night, for its silence and the starry nights.

  Vivimos en Calle Larga , V Región Cordillera estamos en el sector de Valle Alegre. Calle Larga está a 1 hr. de Santiago o 2 hrs. de Valparaíso. La gente vive de la Minería y la agricultura. Hay muchas construcciones de adobe, sobre todo de "tapial". Es un lugar tranquilo, de cielo limpio, a pesar de estar cerca de Santiago, aún mantiene la esencia del campo.
  Estamos rodeado de fundos agrícolas que exportan clementinas, uvas y cultivan pasto alfalfa. Somos una familia pequeña con 6 perros de distintas edades. Queremos compartir nuestros conocimientos en la construcción en "quincha" y lo que hemos aprendido de agricultura. Estamos en espera de comenzar la temporada agrícola para sembrar hortalizas. En la casa nos revoque fino (arena + tierra, cal), pintar paredes, queremos hacer nuestro horno de barro. Tenemos mucho trabajo tanto en terminar la casa como agricultura, chipear leña, limpiar acequia, sembrar, cosechar y sobre todo, salir a vender nuestros productos a "viva voz" y plantar árboles.
  En invierno hace mucho frío, en verano el calor es sofocante, entonces nosotros trabajamos temprano afuera y en las tardes dentro de la casa, Nos levantamos entre las 07-08 de la mañana y recién ahí organizamos el día.
  Amo este lugar por la puesta del sol, por los amaneceres, por las aves que ves en las mañanas como en las noches, por su silencio por las noches estrelladas

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  You can go for a walk or ride a bike (we have one), climb the hills. Depending on the dates you can participate in the national holidays, field day, threshing, Calle Larga, there is an Observatory, there are rodeos, in summer there is the "chaya" festival, all the communes hold it at different times, national and regional artists come. We are close to other communes such as Los Andes, San Felipe, Santa María, Putaendo, San Esteban, each commune has typical activities. In winter you can go to Portillo to ski, we are also very close to Mendoza, which means you can travel without any problem by bus, except when the Los Libertadores Pass is closed due to snow.
  
  There are vineyards, tours, petroglyphs, etc. We like to meet people who are cooperative, happy, who want to learn Spanish or better said "Chilean", we like to talk, laugh, exchange ideas, learn new words in another language.
  
  Puedes salir a caminar o andar en bicicleta (nosotros tenemos), subir los cerros. Segun l as fechas podrás participar en las fiestas patrias, día del campo, la trilla, Calle Larga tiene un Observatorio, hay rodeos, en verano se hace la fiesta de la "chaya" todas las comunas la realizan en tiempos diferidos, vienen artista nacionales y zonales. Estamos cerca de otras comunas como Los Andes, San Felipe, Santa María, Putaendo, San Esteban, cada comuna tiene actividades típicas. En invierno puedes ir a Portillo a esquiar, también estamos muy cerca de Mendoza, lo que significa que puedes viajar sin ningún problema en bus, excepto cuando cierran el Paso Los Libertadores por nieve. Hay viñedos, tours, petroglifo, etc.
  
  Nos gusta conocer personas que sean cooperadoras, alegres, que deseen aprender español o mejor dicho "chileno", nos gusta conversar, reir, intercambiar ideas, conocer palabras nuevas en otro idioma

  Agriculture: cleaning irrigation ditches, sowing, harvesting, weeding, spraying, planting trees, mulching, composting, gardening, chicken cooping, greenhouse work, etc.
  
  Construction: plastering the house inside and out, making furniture, doors, painting, making a clay oven.
  
  In all activities they will work with us, doing the same things or different ones. In the morning I dedicate myself to housework, then I join the rest of the family, that is, my husband.
  
  If you know more than us about construction or agriculture, we are open to learning and teaching.
  
  Agricultura: limpiar acequia, sembrar, cosechar, desmalezar, fumigar, plantar arboles, hacer mulch-compost-jardín-gallinero, preocuparse del invernadero, etc.
  Construccion: revocar la casa por dentro y por fuera, hacer muebles, puertas, pintar, hacer horno de barro.
  
  En todas las actividades trabajaran con nosotros, haciendo las mismas cosas o diferentes. En la mañana me dedico a las labores de casa, después me incluyo a trabajar con el resto, es decir, con mi esposo.
  
  Si tu sabes más que nosotros en cuanto a construcción, agricultura, nosotros estamos abierto a aprender como a enseñar.

  Con una estadía corta, quizás no podamos aprender hablar otro idioma, la motivación es grande. Queremos que aprendas hablar "chileno" así que estamos felices a enseñarte.

  Accommodation

  They will live in our house, where they will have a room with a double bed, their own space, the bathroom is shared with visitors (very few come), there is internet, it has a TV, bed linen, you can wash your clothes.
  The common areas are the kitchen, living room, dining room.
  They can use the bicycles.
  We will provide you with breakfast and lunch from home. At night we have a snack, we eat the same breakfast, if you want to cook we have no problem if you bring your own ingredients if you eat something special.
  Breakfast is usually between 07-08 am and lunch between 13.-14.00 hrs. It is not a fixed schedule, because sometimes we go out to do paperwork and have lunch late. We like to have a meal schedule, to do it all together to share

  Vivirán en nuestra casa, donde tendrán una pieza con cama matrimonial, su propio espacio, el baño es compartido con visitas (vienen muy pocos), hay internet, tiene TV, ropa de cama, puedes lavar tu ropa.
  Las áreas común son la cocina, living, comedor.
  Podrán usar las bicicletas.
  Te aportaremos con desayuno y el almuerzo de casa. En las noches tomamos once, comemos lo mismo el desayuno, si deseas cocinar no tenemos problema que traigas tus ingredientes si consumes algo especial.
  El desayuno suele ser entre las 07-08 am y el almuerzo entre las 13.-14.00 hrs. no es un horario fijo, porque a veces salimos hacer tramite y almorzamos tarde. Nos gusta que el horario de comida, hacerlo todos juntos para compartir

  It is important that you know that we have 6 dogs, who sleep inside the house, they are considered family, their ages are 13, 5 and 3 years old. The oldest one wants to sleep and eat all day, the rest only think about playing.
  
  We do not allow drugs or alcohol, we like calm, clean people, they can smoke outside the house, the land is large.

  Pueden salir a caminar, correr, viajar a Santiago (1 hr) o a Valparaíso (2 hrs) o Mendoza a (4 hrs. aprox, depende de Aduana), puedes ir a la nieve, conocer las otras comunas, ir a la termas hay que pagar, hacer traking con agencias.
  
  Es importante que sepas que tenemos 6 perros, que duermen dentro de casa, ellos son considerados familia, sus edades son de 13, 5 y 3 años . La más viejita quiere dormir y comer todo el día, el resto solo piensan en jugar.
  
  No permitimos droga ni alcohol, nos gusta la gente tranquila, limpia, fumar pueden hacerlo fuera de casa, el terreno es grande.
