We stayed with Mikael and Marte for around 1,5 months and our stay will forever be a memorable amazing experience. Mikale and Marte both welcomed us with the most open arms and let us inside their lives. They were incredibly supportive and showed 100% interest in us and our needs both as "workawayers" and as real people in a foreign country. They
… read more were always flexible and made sure we were comfortable in terms of workload, tasks, safety, and so on. They were incredibly supportive and curious to get to know us on a friendly level, but always respectfully and they fully understood when we needed privacy for a couple of hours, a day, or even a weekend. Accommodation was incredibly wonderful, we had a double bed in a private room at their cozy and aesthetical guesthouse, with a kitchen and a big shower – so wonderful<3.
Mikael and Marte are amazing at communicating. They made it super easy for us to speak our minds and they were always reachable over whatsapp and over phone. Mikael and Marte involved us a lot in the projects they had, which made it feel very meaningful and interesting for us. We did a lot of manual labor both on our own but mostly together with either Mikael/Marte or all together, which was always a very cozy time when we all worked together. From time to time we would also look after their soon to be 3 y/o Emrik and small Frida, who both taught us a lot about mushroom picking and how to have fun in Norwegian-style ;)
All in all, we had an incredibly cozy, fun, and meaningful experience during our stay with Mikael and Marte. They have two wonderful children whom we were incredibly lucky to meet and become friends with. We had a car, so we were very lucky to be able to experience the beautiful environment around Heggjabygda. Mikael and Marte belong to that very special group of amazing people you only meet once in your life, they are supportive, fun, happy, constructive, ambitious, respectful, inviting... we could go on. This place is a hidden gem, and we can not recommend it enough. They are also the reason why we both now have an addiction to the boardgame "Tickets to Ride" :D

I spend little over a month here and enjoyed every single day.
Working together with Mikael and Marte was a very good experience, easy to understand and they thought me a lot.
I had lots of fun with Emrik while playing and looking after him. All three of them let me feel very helpful and comfortable all the time.
Some of the evenings where spent

On weekends we did some cross country skiing thogether or I did a small walk and relaxed by the big lake nearby.
Thank you for evything and maybe I will come by for a visit in the disant future.

We felt a good vibe on messages before we met, and we also felt a great vibe with him when he appeared. We consider Hugo as whole wood; solid and true to what he appears to be. He
… read more quickly became a part of our family. He was really helpful with ordinary house tasks, which was an important contribution in our busy family life. He inspired us by making delicious vegan food for us during his stay. He is surprisingly reflected person. In practice it means that feedback flows both ways in an open tone, he is open to get inspired and to learn new things and loves to have conversation on important things in life. Try to ask some difficult questions to him, and he will love to go into the matter. I think we learned a lot together by these talks.
He is very practical and we had no problem trusting him working independant. Though, he naturally prefer to work together with others!

I enjoyed this stay a lot and learned so much, where to even begin.
With Mike I had many amazing, interesting and/or funny conversations. He asks thrilling questions and gives exiting answers☺️. He comunicates very openly and this works both ways.
Marte sometimes joined the conversations in the evening adding value and depth. She is calm and
… read more friendly and often shares a smile 😊.
Actually now that I think about it all that I said about Mike can be applied to her and the other way round.
Emerik even though he is only one year old can already comunicate very clearly what he wants and I therefore enjoyed playing with him a lot. He can already talk about the three most important things in life(Potet, Banan og Budda.🔆
Them talking with Emerik has helped me a lot with my Norwegian and I have learned to make bread (actually not to hard 😅).
The Farm is situated with a beautiful view and close enough to the lake and the town. The lake (deepest one in Europe was probably where I liked hanging out the most and and the town (Nordfjordeid) has everything I wanted. (climbing gym and stores to buy chocolate)
Thank you Mike and Marte for intence boardgame evenings, flabbergasting conversations, delicious vegan pancakes and just in general a enjoyable stay.

I was on the farm in Heggjabygda for two months in the autumn. Mikael and Marte are very friendly and helpful. The little boy is wonderful and the cats are great too.
All in all, I had a great stay on the farm. I was always welcome to be there when they had visitors or to accompany them in leisure activities. When working, however, I was almost
… read more always alone and Mikael didn't have much time to discuss or plan my work with me during the day. But it was easy to communicate with Mikael and Marte and very straightforward.
The nature around the farm is absolutely beautiful and there are many opportunities for outdoor activities and it was always possible to borrow a bike and drive to the city or they took me with them with the car if they were going there anyway.
I can only recommend spending time on the farm :)
