    Description

    Hi there!

We are a family living in Canada 1.5 hours from Toronto in a town near Collingwood, Ontario. We live in an old schoolhouse on a property with chickens, 2 fluffy dogs and a sweet 18 month old. Our place is a quiet sanctuary in the country, but with cute nearby towns to explore and enjoy. We have fresh eggs and an abundant garden in the summer months. We are also near beaches with wind surfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding etc.We are also near many beautiful hiking trails, including a small forest trail on the property. In the winter months we are near ski/snowboarding hills, snowshoeing, skating trails & more.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We love meeting new people and having the energy of a house guest. There is a lot to enjoy on the property itself - it is often described as a retreat from our visitors. We also have many local activities we hope you will enjoy! There are hiking trails, beaches, yoga studios, local fairs & events, markets and many communities in the area for various sports depending on what interests you.

  • Help

    Help

We are busy with the garden, our baby, the animals & generally maintaining the property. We are looking for an extra set of hands around the house. Cleaning & helping maintain the inside space would be a focus for us. A secondary priority would be to help with gardening and outdoor care.

We love to share our knowledge of chickens and gardening, as well as the goodies that come from them. We would love someone who enjoys nature to come share our space.

    Accommodation

You will have a private space in our newly renovated basement. It is a separate & quiet area of our house with its own bathroom with a shower and a very comfy bed.

We eat a pretty healthy and varied diet and love to cook. We are happy to provide you with things that you specifically like when we do our grocery shopping. You are welcome to cook and help yourself to food in the house. We do have a gluten allergy, so many of our kitchen things can't cross contaminate with gluten.

This area is yours to discover! We would be so delighted if you had a lovely time in Canada exploring around. We are happy for you to use the car when we aren't using it. We can also coordinate dropping you off at the train station if you wish to explore Toronto. We want this to feel really mutually beneficial and fair :)

Our house rules are pretty simple: Please dont wake the baby and dont wake us. We really value sleep in this house :)
