Description
Hi! Welcome :)
There is always a lot going on here. We have a small farm (1ha) with a vegetable garden, mature and young trees of all kinds (food forest in the making) and rescued animals (sheep, chickens and cats).
We have a fermenteria where we make tofu, gingerbeer etc. and in autumn we grow mushrooms.
Our house is often visited by friends and/or volunteers (although we also like to have a month or two of quiet), and there is a general passion for visual arts, dance and music.
Our general aim is to explore all that life has to offer, to be happy and have the people around us be happy. We take care each other and of our precious mother earth.
Care for nature especially is important for each of us.
We farm according to the principles of permaculture. We re-use materials and use natural materials as much as possible. We eat and live plant-based and respect all creatures around us (except the occasional annoying fly or mosquito :))Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As we live in the countryside we are surrounded by Portugese locals. We have a good connections with them and if you want to learn Portugese you can easily chat with them in our local bar. It's important for us to be part of the village community and keep the friendly connection with our neighbors.
Help
The projects you will do will be based on what you like to do and what you're good at. It can vary a lot from day to day but you definitely have a say in it. It can vary from very generic tasks (weeding, cleaning, feeding the animals and digging vegetable beds) to very specific tasks based on what you're good at/interested in.
The more of a specific skill-set you have, the more specific your tasks will be. And of course there is space to learn new things.
Initiatives for projects are always very welcomed.
A projects for the coming months are:
-tofu/soya milk/gingerbeer making
-irrigation system development garden
-watering, a lot of watering
-harvesting and processing food
-assisting in the making and taking of videos
-sealing/creating a pond
But there is always moreLanguages

In summer you will most likely be camping in a tent or (when it's not occupied) a caravan on the land, or bring your own vehicle to sleep in. Sometimes we also have rooms available in the main house. There is a compost toilet and an outdoor shower on the land.
In the main house you will have access to a small kitchen, hot shower, laundry machine and internet.
There is also a common indoor space with couches and tables where you can do computer stuff, nap, do yoga or whatever. There even is a full gym-set for work-out sessions :)
In winter we can offer you a room inside of the main house or in the caravan, be it not too cold. What else ...
In summer the river Zezere (10 min walk) is a true blessing for us. A bigger natural swimming pool with cascades is a 10 minute drive away from us.
We are fairly close to two cities (Fundão and Covilhã (a bus going to the last one)) where there are weekly markets and other things a city has to offer.
There are mountains to hike and, by car, you can visit natural park Serra da Estrela.
Every village has at least one bar, and in this time of the year there are parties around on almost a weekly basis.
What we ask you to respect while living with us:
Our house and kitchen are vegan (apart from the eggs from our rescue chickens)
No dogs.
We recycle the water from the showers so we only use biodegradable soap (you can use ours if u want)
In summertime there can be sometimes a lot of people, so we try to keep the main house a more quiet/private space for us. This means you are welcome to cook, clean or shower, but if you want to hang out, use any of the other nice spaces :-)
Be friendly and respectful to our neighbors.
Be mindful about the use of substances (aka, don't bother anyone with them)
We are looking for someone responsible, flexible and, most importantly, with heart for nature.
If you feel aligned with what you just read, we are very happy to meet you!A little more information
