Description
Childcare from April 2025 to July 2025 and September 2025 to December 2025 but prefer whole year to July 2026 if possible...
please reply to Aine Kaye (my wife) as workaway host. Please note we want people for a few months at least & cannot take people for a few weeks as it disrupts our children (as we would expect any person who has looked after children to know).
We are a friendly, arty, sporty, musical, family of 5 - Mum (Irish), Dad (British-Indian), & 3 daughters - 14, 9 & 7. We would like any candidates to be similar and hopefully contribute to their expanding horizons...
We live in a four bedroom house 30 mins by train from the centre of London and are ideal for culture or study in London.
We are looking for an au pair type person (single room/bed only) mainly as core duties getting 2 youngest children (9 & 7) ready for school and taking them and picking up, (generally 7.45 am-9 am, 3pm-5pm so core hours are 3h 45m/day x 5 days) on weekdays and looking after them for the short periods we cannot. The children are self-reliant and fun. We need stability and reliability for our children. The duties are flexible to some extent because I work at home when not in Court so can help with school drop and pick. We would like the person to live with us as a family member so eating and socialising with us. Weekends are off as are school holidays including half-terms and evenings apar5 from very occasional baby-sitting (we never go out).
It is possible to do this as paid work (i.e. 20-25 hrs a week and receive remuneration on a standard au pair contract) but only if are able to show us in advance that you can work legally in the UK (i.e. be British citizen, refugee/immigration status in the UK to work, EUSS, Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme visa, or have work visa). Ideally applicant should also have DBS or equivalent (police check), or agree to do one, and experience with childcare. Would be ideal for young Brit or Irishperson or student wanting to explore London's possibilities, do study/ internships/work experience (we would try to be flexible to allow working hours between school pickups or evenings). We would also consider contributing to English classes if needed (as we did for our EU au pairs until Brexit stopped them)...Types of help and learning opportunities
