Description
We are a three generational family living in two locations in the Himalayas. After traveling the world, we returned to the hills and in our enthusiasm we built cottages in two little villages with land around them.
One location is our original family village home about 6 km from Almora with a 150 year old house and fields. The other is a couple of cottages near Ranikhet.
We need help with the following: (in order of priority)
1. Creating and conducting workshops (nature skills, art, yoga, stem activities etc) of any kind for children aged 6 to 15. We used to run a school on our campus which we closed after COVID but we would love it if the children around us could still learn and have fun here. We need help urgently designing and running workshops for them.
2. Help in our organic vegetable gardens. Planting, weeding, watering etc.
3. Regular maintenance jobs: painting, cleaning and repair of the buildings and yard areas.
We are now realizing that despite our best intentions we need help to fully utilize our large school campus and agricultural land. We welcome anyone who wishes to try new projects with yoga, meditation, art, renewable energy, sustainable farming etc.
Our spaces are yours if you have the energy, ideas and wherewithal to start something beautiful here.
We have clean air, gorgeous views and lovely weather- we just need your help and energy to maintain our beautiful surroundings and your new ideas to do something even more fantastic here.

Volunteers will get a chance to experience life in the Himalayas.
We are a local family but have had the advantages of education and travel, so between us we speak German, English, Hindi, Spanish and Pahari.
We enjoy spending time together playing soccer, volleyball, board games, the guitar, hiking, running, singing or dancing. But we also love time alone and really enjoy peaceful solitude.
For innovative, energetic and independent workers we offer all our spaces to start any worthwhile projects- long term as well.
We feel super lucky to have a home in the Himalayas and would love to have you help us make something even more beautiful here.

Help
With several buildings and a fair amount of land we need people good at cleaning, gardening, repair and maintenance or those willing to learn.
We would also love to have people interested in teaching the village kids and/or organizing music, science, art or yoga events.
Our organic vegetable garden also needs daily attention.
Renewable energy and sustainable farming are also of interest to us.
We are actually just looking for energetic people to help maintain and hopefully build something new in our beautiful little village.

Two of us are keen on improving our Spanish and can offer Hindi or English in exchange.
Accommodation
Volunteers have a separate room and shared bathrooms at both locations.
Volunteers cook their own meals together. There is a kitchen with a gas cooker and we provide staples such as rice, flour, lentils etc.
Additional foods and meals are easily accessible and can be purchased from the nearby village shops.
Both our locations are close enough to towns with many good, clean and inexpensive food options.
What else ...
This is the place for those who like hiking, bird watching and being in nature. We are a couple of hours away by road from many tourist destinations also if you get too lonely or bored with us :)
