    Description

We recently purchased 5 acres of land with only one tree! We are rectifying that by planting native trees and a food forest. The Bundjalung land we live on was once rainforest with trees bigger than we can imagine but the trees were cut and the soil has been trodden by cows and mono-cultured with grass for over 100s. We are learning about growing food sustainably and spend most of our days working in the garden mulching, planting, fertilising, weeding, harvesting, pruning etc. We also process food we grow such as drying, picking, making sauces, freezing. We are vegan and aim to eat predominantly from the garden.

We have a cute caravan available plus a large shed set up with a small kitchen and hangout area. We welcome you to stay in the caravan/shed and supply plenty of food for you to prepare your own meals.

The main job we have now is mulching. We mix it up with other tasks but mulching is a huge help to us.

My partner Simeon and I (Trina) live here with our sons Juel (30) and Taj (26) and their partners, Belinda and Jade. We are located less than 15 minutes drive from Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads, an amazing location. Having your own vehicle is essential to stay with us .

We love to travel and meet people from around the world so when we can't travel we welcome other travellers here. We spend most of our time in the garden and enjoy a swim at the beach or river after a hot days work. On the weekends we love going to the markets or finding a waterfall in the hills. In the evening we like to share a home grown/cooked meal together and maybe have a drink around the fire. On Sunday mornings we go to a food swap where we exchange our extra food with other gardeners. You are welcome to join us for all or some of our activities.

  • Help

    Help

Mulching is big part of what we do. We have piles of wood chip that need spreading through our gardens and forest areas. Some muscle is required but mostly stamina for this job. We also need help with weeding, fertilising, planting and harvesting depending on the day, we like to mix it up to keep things interesting. We also process food ie cooking, dehydrating, freezing, caning etc so help in the kitchen can sometimes be great depending what your enjoy. No one likes cleaning but often cleaning jobs are also available. We will do tasks together a lot of the time but if you (and we) feel confident, you can work independently. We love to share what we know as well as learn from others.

    Accommodation

We offer a 1969 Olympia Debonair caravan with a double bed located next to our big green shed. The shed is where we collect seeds and store produce but it also has a lounge, dining table and hanging chair for your use. There is an outside but private shower and toilet connected to the shed. We have set up a small kitchen in the shed and provide food for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks which you can prepare yourself. Our food is predominantly grown in the garden, we even produce our own flour, dried fruit, chillies sauces and other goodies. The meals and food we offer will be plant based but WWs are welcome to supply their own eggs and dairy if they wish, we ask that no meat be cooked on the property.

We are located less than 15 minutes drive to Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads so a car is necessary for getting around. There is no public transport and hills make bike riding a challenge. Please do not contact us if you do not have your own vehicle. In your down time you are welcome to socialise with us and come on adventures if we having them, but you are also welcome to say no, whatever suits you best.
