Description
🌿 Yeah! You found me! :DD
Welcome to my off-grid project I (Sascha) started earlier this year in Hoya Grande, a place that feels straight out of Hobbitland – in the wild north of La Palma, Canary Islands.
🏞️ What did I find on this 1.5-hectare piece of land?
When I arrived, there was... almost nothing :
just a small, half-collapsed stone stable (80% carved into the mountain like a real Hobbit house)
and pure, untouched nature, no water, no electricity...
🌰 12 majestic, ancient chestnut trees
🌿 Several flat plateaus begging to be cultivated
🧚♂️ A hidden fairytale ravine
🌳 A mystical hill covered in laurel and tree heath, wrapped in hanging lichens
🪨 Deep, fertile humus, red clay soil, basalt rocks
🌄 A breathtaking view over the rolling hills of Garafía, with barely any human traces and the Atlantic Ocean stretching into the distance
🛠️ Current Status of the Project:
🛖 My home is set – a cozy 28m² yurt (terrace still in the making)
🪵 A 25m² solid wood cabin is built – roof needs final touches
🌱 A 5m diameter pit is ready for a special greenhouse (soon to be a geodome on top!)
🧱 A 6m diameter pit is dug for a 50m² workshop yurt, complete with basement & foundation
🌲 Tree trunks are prepped from the forest for a carport that will carry the main solar system
🚽 A 3x2m foundation is finished for a flagship compost toilet
🚿💡 Water & electricity infrastructure are on their way!
💪 Spirit & Energy:
I'm full of motivation and vision, even though I’m currently forced to slow down –
my arm is still recovering from a 4-day non-stop woodhouse-building marathon 😄
I’m a big believer in win-win situations – where both people and nature benefit.
I’m passionate about effective, practical methods that support regeneration and well-being – whether they’re backed by science, rooted in traditional knowledge, or simply proven through my own experience.
There’s no black-and-white thinking here, and no need for extreme lifestyles.
I live close to nature, but with balance and purpose – and I love projects that create real movement and change.
Let’s bring it to life together! 🥰🥰🥰Types of help and learning opportunities

You can contact them directly for more information.Accommodation
Lovely "glamping" tents.
Also you can come with your own motorhomes/ vans/ cars
The food supply will be arranged individually. It depends on how much work you wanna do. In the standard case of helping 4-5 hours, 4-5 days a week, the food and accommodation is of course included.
We will cook two times a day together. I prefer a plant-based diet, but also like to eat good cheese from time to time. Meat and milk I have in principle not in my kitchen. What else ...
In your free time there are many different things to experience.
The entire island is a UNESCO biosphere reserve and truly a monster of contrasts.
There are over 1000km of hiking trails at different altitudes and climates waiting for you. You can go climbing, biking, surfing & diving. Visit permaculture projects, participate in herbal walks, collecting mushrooms or go to one of the many traditional festivals on the island (around every 2 weeks there is a nice street festival). You can explore one of the newest volcanic craters and land on the planet. As much suffering as the eruption has caused, without it the beautiful Canary Islands would not exist. A curse and a blessing at the same time.
Enjoy!A little more information
