In addition to achieving my language learning goals, I had the pleasure of getting to know and enjoy the Irish culture from the heart of a traditional family. I extremely loved the family conversations during dinner times, Kerry's delicious meals, the interaction with their charming and well-behaved children, the company of their affectionate pets, the lively atmosphere in cosmopolitan Dublin and its pubs, the Irish friendly nature, and the truly stunning green landscapes of Ireland. Undoubtedly, both this family and the Irish customs have left a deep mark on my heart!
I could not be more grateful to Kerry and Brian, who are indeed tireless workers, for the magnificent and fair treatment I received, as well as for the trust placed in me, since this was my first experience as a workawayer.

The best experience I could wish for. This was my first workaway experience and it couldn't have gone better. Brian, Kerry and the children are super friendly and welcoming. … read more need too much experience. From there you can easily explore Dublin and the surrounding area, but also take weekend trips to Belfast, for example. In addition, Kerry's cooking skills are very convincing and an absolute recommendation. In summary, I had a super great time and was able to learn a lot from Brian and Kerry about Irish culture or have a good conversation and I am very grateful for my time there. I had an amazing month with Brian and Kerry. They are wonderful hosts and kind, caring people. I spent two weeks working extra time to convert a farm shed into an event space, then had some time off to explore Dublin and take day trips to Galway and Glendalough. The work was physical and rewarding, and Kerry's cooking at the end of the day always
… read more made up for any lost calories. The house and grounds are beautiful and only a half hour bus ride from Dublin (although some walking is required). Sophie and Charles are wonderful hosts. I spent about a month with them, and I enjoyed it a lot. There is always a lot to do, that means that you can choose what do you prefere to do. I didn't know anything about horses, but staying with them I learnt a bit.

It was my first workaway experience with this lovely family and I'm so grateful to spent two weeks with them. Philipp was our first WorkAway experience and we were delighted.

I had a great time in Ireland and spent about 3 month with the family, that in itself should already be enough of a résumé, but I fell like I should ellaborate a bit more.
I had my own room and bathroom in their house and started working at ~9:00am after having breakfast.
They have a huge lawn which needed mowing, although there is an electric
… read more mower called Spongebob, due to the fallen leaves in autumn/winter it needed some assistance.
I got to drive around in a dumper, got to use the strimmer, a splitter, a pressure washer and the leafblower and even got taught how to use a chainsaw by Brian.
As you can see there is a lot of variety of tasks and you can mix them up if you get tired of one of them.
My task was mainly to maintain the garden and trying to keep it.
But there were also tasks like planting a hedge around their tennis court or loading steel onto the truck to get it to the recycling depot, or moving some rocks out of the way.
You will never be bored around their house.
So much for the work stuff. The family itself is also a charm! I am not trying to write their names, because spelling of Irish names are very difficult =) fortunately pronouncing them is way easier. =)
The kids are great company if you want any. You will definately get to hear some great music all around the house, let it be the flute or singing from the children. All four of them were great! So even if you usually don't like kids, they might have you change your mind =)
If you are not stuck on the internet in your room every other day, like I was, you can enjoy having your dinner with the family and take part in some very interesting converstaions. The food is....pay attention Kerry, I am about to say it.....The food is great and I promise you will love it.
If you like a glass of wine or having a beer in the evening you will be in great company with Brian, Kerry and sometimes her sister.
Over all there is really nothing to complain about. You should really contact them and get stuck there for a couple of month =) I would probably still be there if they didn't need my room over christmas!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
