    Description

I'm a single mum to 4-year-old twin boys with developmental delay and autism. I'm originally from Denmark so looking to find someone who speaks Danish or English as their mother tongue. This job would be either half au pair/support worker as live-in or live-out. Weekly pay is $500AUD and start date is beginning of November 2025 with a minimum of 6 months stay. An average work week is 35 hours per week.

You will be assisting with improving the boys development such as speech (hence you need to speak either native Danish or English) and reaching their developmental goals using a play based approach. There is also an OT, Speech Therapist, Developmental Educator and Positive Behaviour Therapist involved. You will help prepare and clean up after meals, do bath time, school drop off/ pick up and sometimes excursions out of the house such as the local park and playground, doctor's appointments, etc.

You need to have experience looking after children from the age of 4, current first aid, working with children check, an ABN (this is easy to get if you have a valid working visa) and contactable references. Experience with working with children with autism and ADHD is a huge bonus.

Apart from helping with the boys, you would also sometimes cook healthy dinner (we are vegetarian) , do house cleaning, laundry, help with our little dog, and other odd jobs as needed so it is important that you would be willing to do this.

Please send me a message if you are interested in joining our little family and experiencing a Danish / Australian adventure🇦🇺🐨🦘🌴🌞

IMPORTANT: Please note there is a MINIMUM stay of 6 months and we can only host 1 workawayer at the time. I don't have a lot of free time so will only be replying to applications from people that have either Danish or English as their mother tongue, sorry in advance!

You can see the lake from our house and stroll or run along the walk/ bike path right into town, which is only about 1km away. Park Run is on at 8am every Saturday morning, which is a good opportunity to meet some locals. People are very friendly here and there are good walking trails in the area and lots of birds, so great for nature lovers. Meningie also has a cafe & bar, a supermarket, pub, coffee shop, bakery, 2nd hand antique shops, a takeaway, motels, caravan park and a gym etc.
