    Description

Hi, I'm Lorenz, originally from Switzerland. I’m passionate about sustainable and regenerative agriculture, and I’m also interested in surfing, fishing, and cooking. I have a deep desire to create a space that nurtures both the land and the people on it. After years of dreaming and planning, I’ve now started to bring this vision to life on about 9 hectares of beautiful land in Costa Rica.

The project is still in its early stages and is evolving a little more every day. My vision is to create a living space shaped by permaculture and regenerative principles, where sustainability, creativity, and self-expression all have room to grow.

The focus is on restoring the land through diverse plantings, natural building, and thoughtful systems like composting and solar power.

Life here is very connected to nature. I currently live with a young and playful dog, and in the near future, cows and chickens will also become part of the farm to help support a balanced and regenerative ecosystem.

The land is located about 10 minutes by car from Cobano, and around 30 minutes from Santa Teresa, a well-known beach town and surfer’s paradise.

This is a very nature-based, off-grid experience. There’s limited cell reception, only available in one spot under a specific tree—perfect if you’re looking for a digital detox.

Instead of screen time, you’ll have the chance to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and spend time outdoors, with the land, or simply in stillness. Whether it's meditating by the river, walking through the property, or finding a private corner to journal or reflect—there’s plenty of space here to just be.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

During your stay, you’ll have the chance to learn about regenerative agriculture and permaculture in a hands-on way—from soil building and planting to natural construction and animal care.

There’s also the opportunity to work closely with local helpers and neighbors, which offers a deeper insight into Costa Rican culture and rural life.

You can immerse yourself in language exchange, improve your Spanish or English, and share your own knowledge and ideas.

This place is not only about working with the land, but also about connecting with people, learning from nature, and growing together.

    Help

I’m looking for motivated and open-minded people, ideally 25 years or older, who enjoy working with nature, aren't afraid to get their hands dirty, and are excited about contributing to a growing vision.

Whether you have experience in gardening, natural building, design, art, permaculture, or simply bring good energy and a willingness to learn—your presence is welcome!

There’s also plenty of room for creativity and personal initiative. If you have your own ideas or would like to start a small side project that aligns with the spirit of sustainability and regeneration, I’m more than happy to support that. You’re encouraged to bring in your strengths, interests, and inspiration—this is a place where ideas can grow just like plants.

I welcome longer stays and prefer volunteers who can stay more than 3 weeks, so we can really build something meaningful together.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Life here is simple, close to nature, and intentionally rustic, as the project is still in its early stages. At the moment, I can offer a comfortable hammock spot for sleeping, and there’s plenty of space for tents or campervans if you prefer your own setup. There is a composting toilet (biotoilet) available. You’ll receive one healthy and balanced meal a day, and the rest of the time we often cook together or get creative with local ingredients.

There’s a beautiful river on the property, perfect for cooling off, relaxing, or simply reconnecting with yourself. With 9 hectares of land, there’s also plenty of space and privacy, whether you want to meditate, read, explore, or work on your own projects in peace.

We’re completely off-grid, and the phone signal only works under one specific tree, which makes this the perfect place for a little digital detox. Many volunteers find that the lack of constant connection helps them to slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with nature, with others, and with themselves.

In your free time, you’re welcome to explore the land, enjoy the river, or visit the surrounding area. The vibrant towns of Santa Teresa and Montezuma are just a short drive away and offer beaches, waterfalls, surfing, yoga, cafés, and more. There are also occasional ride-sharing opportunities to Santa Teresa or Cobano, making it easier to get around and explore.

This is more than a work exchange—it’s a space for growth, learning, and meaningful connection. If you’re curious about sustainable living, community building, or simply want to take a break from the usual, I’d love to hear from you!
