Description
- Now accepting workawayers for 2025 summer! :) Send us an e-mail! -
We are a small family living in the middle of South Estonian luscious landscape. Our home is situated on the edge of Tilleoru valley, hence the meaning of our farm's name, which translates to "Valley farm". We have two friendly pet sheep, ten very friendly chickens, seven shy ducks, two cats and two kids (2 and 4 years old). We are located by the historical Postal road, titled as the most beautiful asphalt road in Estonia and hence, several landmarks, touristic objects and museums are located closeby, namely the Estonian Road Museum and Karilatsi Open Air Museum. A beautiful Tilleoru hiking trail can be accessed straight from our farm grounds. At the same time, we enjoy the privacy of our tiny paradise and spend time on doing all the different jobs maintaining a large homestead takes. We are not a business and nothing we do results in any produce other than for our own consumption.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Kadi has a master's degree in English translation and can therefore converse freely in English, she has also spent a work and travel year in Australia and loves travelling. Taavi is very handy with tools and woodworking and wood processing, designing furniture etc. We have a good relationship with our neighbours and love coming together and cooking dinner together and going to sauna. We spend a lot of time outside hiking, swimming, taking part in our local events etc. As we have two small kids, they take most of our free time though and we involve them in our jobs and doings as much as we can. We are both friendly and up for a good chat about sharing experiences of different cultures, tips and tricks from other nations that we could incorporate, but at the same time love our privacy too. However the location of our farm offers a very good balance of introspective wandering and finding differenct social activities and cultural experiences closeby.
Help
We have altogether 6 hectars of land and we try to live as one with the nature and use the resources that we have here as much as we can, so we have chicken and ducks for eggs and our own forest for firewood and fields and vegetable beds for growing our own food. We generally need help with different farm chores, we do not make or sell any produce. Workawayers can be of help with forestry work (sawing, wood-splitting etc), tractor driving, clearing our sheds, mowing the lawn, watering the vegetable fields, weeding, help taking care of animals and also for example collecting hay for our sheep for the winter. As Taavi is himself a cabinet-maker and we have built our home and everything involved ourselves, some small construction work can also be an option and Taavi is happy to share his knowledge and know-how. Kadi is somewhat competent in sharing know-how on growing crops on hay beds and permaculture and also on poultry farming. Other odd jobs that generally need doing in a farm can also use a helping hand, but nothing really requires any special skills or experience.

We have a sauna house that we have reconstructed as a tiny home we used to live ourselves in before our house was finished. It has a top-knotch kitchen corner with a gas stove, fridge, microwave and a bathroom with sink, shower, sauna and an half-open second floor with double bed. Lots of hidden closet space, an open fireplace, a couch that also converts into a bed and the best part is a huge terrace with the best view of the valley. Barbeque option is also provided as we have an open air summer kitchen too. We have rented the sauna house previously and all of our guests have loved the place.
We are happy to cook lunch for everyone sometimes and break fast on the weekends, and you are very welcome to cook dinner for everyone from time to time, we will also happily share our home eggs, vegetables and buy you other main ingredients for making your own meals. The Road Museum also has a cafe, which is a short walk and a very good pizza place is about 5km from our farm. What else ...
As said previously, during the summer there are a lot of options for spending time off and a bus stop that connects the bigger towns of Võru and Tartu is directly accessible from our farm. We can also offer bikes for touring the area and if you have driver's licencse use of car can also sometimes be an option.
The only major rule in our farm is that smoking of any kind is not welcome.A little more information
