    Description

We are Sue and Paul and we live on our renovated home in France, an old farmhouse with barns and large garden. We have 2 sheep, 2 Shetland ponies (rescued), chickens, 2 barn cats (rescued)and 2 dogs: Jack the Border Terrier and Monty the Australian Berger/Griffon cross (rescue).

We are looking for people with initiative to help with work in the garden, both gardening and diy projects, small/medium; building new beds, clearing; planting; chipping branches etc.

Also - help with animal care/feeding, just daily tasks and some smaller building type jobs e.g. pointing of walls ofold bread oven.

We do have some indoor non-garden work in case of bad weather:
    - preparing and painting windows/shutters/doors/furniture/gate

April and October - sorting books and setting up for one of our annual Charity Book Fairs.

The house is in a hamlet about 4.5km from two towns. There are bikes available to use and possibly the van if driving licence is in order.

Very large lake nearby - Lac de Vassiviere.

Internet access is good and unlimited Not so good in the apartment.
    Bikes available.

The accommodation is: a double and a twin room in the house, both en-suite.

Stay could be extended either way if needed or to help with work.

We live in small, friendly hamlet and have both English and French friends. We play boules in Summer in the village, with our French and English neighbours. We enjoy board games and I enjoy various crafts, cycling and walking but my passion is gardening and we are members of a local Gardening Club.

Outdoor work: garden work is our priority this Spring but other jobs include gardening; landscaping; fencing; maintenance; clearing; setting up water collection system (funds allowing) etc. etc. A lot of heavy and not so heavy outdoor work.

I love gardening and am trying to use more of our land for growing but as I work part-time and Paul's getting a shoulder replacement the garden tends to get left until last and is definitely in need of some tlc.

Indoor/Other work: painting shutters/ doors/windows, sorting/prep for Charity Book Fair.
Some help with building type work in advance of a conversion later in the year.

    What else ...

Our local town of Eymoutiers is a lively place with weekly markets, and a definite "hippy" vibe.

We will provide 3 meals a day (Paul is a great cook).
Accommodation is of a very good standard. We have unlimited wifi, however reception can be variable in very bad weather and has to be disconnected if it's stormy. Also a bit hit and miss in the apartment.

We are British but do mix with our French neighbours in the area so there will be some opportunities for improving your French.
Please feel free to ask any questions with no obligation.

Please be aware that the majority of the help is outdoors and some will be hard work but not expecting anyone to work beyond their limits.

I'm not very good at the selling of this but your help would be appreciated and you would get a real idea of living in rural France.

Thanks for taking the time to read this listing.
    Sue
