Description
Hello Workawayers!
My name is Ahmet, and I live with my family in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye — a small and very sunny city in the south of the country. If you're missing the sun, this is the perfect place to soak up plenty of vitamin D! ☀️
I have worked in many charities and social responsibility projects. These two pictures are photos I took while working in these charities.
We have a small tea garden and an olive grove, and we’re looking for friendly people who can help us out and spend time with our family. One of our biggest hopes is to practice English with you — in return, you’ll have the chance to really immerse yourself in the Turkish language and culture.
Don’t worry if your Turkish is basic or non-existent. We’re happy to teach you through daily life, and we would love to improve our English by learning from you!
What we offer:
A peaceful place container house, air conditioning, Wi-Fi
Fast internet
Unlimited delicious homemade Turkish food
A warm and welcoming family atmosphere
A city full of history and culture, dating back to the Hittites
We are not professionals in English, but we’re passionate about cultural exchange and open-hearted hospitality. If you’re kind, curious, and open to a true local experience, we would love to welcome you into our family
Looking forward to meeting youTypes of help and learning opportunities

If you stay with us, you’ll get to experience real Anatolian family life. We’ll share with you our homemade Turkish food, our love for tea, and how we live day to day.
Sometimes we hang out with neighbors, visit local markets, and explore nearby villages and nature together. Kahramanmaraş is full of history and culture — you’ll get a real feel for local traditions, music, and crafts here.
And we’re really curious about your culture too! We’d love to hear your stories, try your recipes, listen to your music, and learn your language. It’s a two-way street — you’ll practice your Turkish, and we’ll improve our English.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are mainly looking for friendly and easygoing volunteers who can:
Help us with daily tasks around the house or tea garden (watering, cleaning, small repairs, waiters etc.)
Spend time with us and help our family practice English through conversation
Occasionally help in our small tea garden (serving tea, tidying the space) or olive grove (seasonal work)
You don’t need to be a professional in anything — just be willing to help and share your time with us!
We value cultural exchange and would love to learn from your experience. In return, we will make sure you are well-fed, feel at home, and enjoy your stay in Turkiye 🇹🇷
We expect around 4-5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, and you’ll have free time to explore or relax.Languages
