Hi! My name is Annelies, I’m 27 years old, and I’m from the Netherlands. I’m excited to meet new people and explore more of the world in the coming months!

Who am I?
I’m a positive and energetic person who loves to laugh and bring good vibes wherever I go.

What do I love?
I’m a sporty and active person who has a big heart for animals. In the Netherlands, I volunteer once a week at an animal shelter, where I care for animals and train dogs. I’ve been doing this for 5 years now with lots of love and dedication. This experience has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to communicate with animals in a meaningful way.

I’m hoping to bring this same passion to Workaway opportunities helping out wherever I can and spreading the same care and love to animals (and people!) in other countries.

My Skills and Experience

Animal Care: For the past 5 years, I’ve been volunteering weekly at an animal shelter in the Netherlands. I take care of animals, especially dogs, and also train them. This has been a deeply rewarding experience that has given me a strong sense of responsibility and the joy of working with animals.

Hospitality: I have a broad background in hospitality. I worked for several years in a fondue restaurant, both as a waitress and behind the bar. I’ve also done hospitality agency work, which taught me how to adapt quickly to new environments and challenges. On top of that, I’ve worked in hotels, where I helped prepare and serve breakfast.

Office Work: I currently work in an office job at a health insurance company, but I’m stepping away from that to pursue my dream of exploring the world and connecting with new people.

I’m hardworking, quick to learn, and I enjoy tackling new challenges. Whether it’s working with animals, helping out in a restaurant, or assisting with general tasks, I’m ready to give it my all. I’d love to bring my skills and energy to your project while learning from your culture and experience.

What I Love

Being in Nature: I absolutely love walking in nature or along the sea. I’m always drawn to places with water, and I hope to improve my surfing skills during my travels. The waves in the Netherlands aren’t quite high enough, so I’m excited to practice in better conditions!

Staying Active: Fitness and sports are important to me. I enjoy staying fit, as it gives me energy and keeps me feeling great.

Creative Activities: I love being creative! At the animal shelter where I volunteer, I was also the photographer for their website. Beyond that, I enjoy sewing with my sewing machine and crafting things by hand. I also love rolling up my sleeves for hands-on projects like painting or tackling other DIY tasks.

Interior Design Passion: I have a big passion for interior design and can spend hours exploring second-hand and thrift shops, searching for unique gems to bring spaces to life.

These hobbies keep me motivated, creative, and excited to take on new challenges. I’m eager to learn and share these passions with others during my Workaway journey! :)
