  • Description

My name is Camille, I am 29 years old and live in Belgium. After working as a structural engineer for a couple of years, I am now looking for a new challenge. I am currently working in a coffee bar in my hometown Leuven. It feels like the right time for me to discover the world. I am eager to explore new places, meet new people and learn about other cultures. Traveling, however, is not new to me: after high school, I went to Brazil for one year with the Rotary Youth Exchange program and lived with a host family, still close to my heart today. It was a really great experience. I also travelled to China, Costa Rica, the United States and a lot of European countries with my family and friends.

In my free time, I am doing acrobatic gymnastics. I really like training with people of different ages for the competitions we participate in. I enjoy running, tennis, hiking and skiing as well. Besides sports, I love to meet up with my family and friends, and to read. During summer, you can definitely find me at some music festivals and in a swimming pool, lake or sea.

People would describe me as a caring, funny, driven, structured, inquisitive, energetic and adventurous person.Over the years, I went from being a somewhat shy person to a more confident person, and I now like to challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone. I am a team player and can also take a leadership position when needed. My happiness level increases whenever the sun shines.

I am excited to join Workaway and can't wait to start a new adventure!

  • More details about your skills

    - I studied civil engineering - architecture at the Catholic University of Leuven.
    - I am fluent in Dutch, French and English. I was raised bilingual by my parents in Dutch and French, but went to school in Dutch so this is the language I am most comfortable in. I also understand and speak some Portuguese (Exchange to Brazil) and German (school) and I know some basic Flemish Sign Language (followed a three-year course).
    - I live in a co-housing, so I am used to living with other people other than family.
    - I love to work with children. I volunteer in a primary school in Brussels, where I join the toddler classes as they go on schooltrips (swimming, museums, ...). At my hobby (acrobatic gymnastics) I also train with children, and I used to babysit a lot when I was younger.
    - I enjoy walking around in the city or in parks and woods, and I like taking my sisters dog with me.
    - Ever since I am a child, I love to create hairstyles (braids, buns, ...). For some years I have been hairstyling brides and bridesmaids, and I cut most of my friends hair.
    - I am quite handy and helped some friends with renovation works: demolitions, painting, etc.
    - I can cook some nice and healthy meals and I occasionally like to bake.
    - I am very organized and I like to keep my house clean and tidy.
