Description
Hello there!

We are Mark (from the Netherlands) and Chloe (from France). We met in Sweden while studying there in 2018 and decided to stick together after that, because it turned out we want the same things in life (and also that we like each other!)

Mark studied investigative journalism in the Netherlands and Sweden. Chloe went to law school in France and the US, then went on to the same investigative journalism course as Mark in Sweden.

We both could probably have interesting careers following the "traditional" path, but we have always felt it wouldn't suit us. Money, social status, possessions... those don't really speak to us. We like being outside, travelling, finding out about new things, new places, new ways.

Since 2019 we have been alternating between periods of travelling (and doing Workaways) and periods of working. For work periods we were mostly based in and around Grenoble, in the French Alps. We travelled all over Europe, mostly moving around in our self-converted camper car. Now it's time for a new chapter on the other side of the globe!

We are both good at adapting to new situations; we learn fast, and we are autonomous and thorough in what we do. Whether it is about surviving a two-month lockdown in a small apartment, or going to the Polar Circle a week after breaking a foot, we don't give up easily. We adapt and manage!

Both of us are sociable and easy-going, but we also enjoy some alone time to read a book or listen to music. We spent plenty of time being hosted by other people, and we know the importance of having a nice time together while respecting everyone's space.

Mark is good at cooking and building or fixing things. Chloe has had a lot of experiences in social work (including with children), and is good with tasks that require care and attention. We both enjoy working with our hands, and we have plenty of experience with gardening, land maintenance, and DIY-building.

Mark and Chloe are some of the best helpers we have ever had, their attitude is totally positive and they enjoy taking on whatever task is thrown at them, they both have a lovely sense of humour and are a joy to have around and also were great with our 3 dogs and totally respected the accommodation, I highly recommend this lovely couple.

We had a lovely time at David and Jacqui's! We stayed close to four weeks in January, and we enjoyed every single day. Beautiful views, lovely hosts, diverse work and sweet dogs; all contributed to us feeling at the right place. We spent two weeks with Jos, Hannie and their beautiful dog Joy on their peaceful quinta in November. The work mainly consisted in pruning their trees, and cleaning up the forest floor. We hosted Mark and Chloe in December for around 2 weeks.
They were great to have around, trustworthy and reliable.
They looked after our house whilst we went away and helped with some gardening jobs.
They also played with our daughter and walked our dog.
Nice couple, highly recommended.

Mark and Chloe were great to have on our farm, they are friendly, helpful, fun and eager. We enjoyed each food they prepared and the stories they shared.
They never complained even when it was weeding....weeding and more weeding.

We spent two weeks with Horst and his family. We felt lucky to enjoy the beautiful scenery and peaceful environment, as well as Horst’s very tasty food and the family’s numerous recommendations on places to see in Slovakia.
