Description
Hi, I'm Dan
I was born in South Africa, but have lived in the UK for the past 12 years. I'm 28 and very recently quit my job in geospatial technology with the hope of being able to explore alternative ways of living through Workaway and travel until my savings run out.
I'm especially interested in experiences offering the opportunity to learn in the areas of biodiversity, forestry, farming and permaculture. However, I'm open to helping in any way and very keen to learn!
I've loved visiting new countries and meeting new people for many years and have had the dream to travel full time ever since my first trip abroad. The time has never quite seemed right though, either because of studying, work or finances tying me to one place.
Now in early 2025, I've finally made the time right and simply want to live a life as full as possible of experiences, travelling and uncertainty. I look forward to meeting you along the way!Interests

More details about your skills
Professional: Making maps (GIS), working with geospatial data (point clouds, creating 3D models), photogrammetry and generally working with and analysing data from drones and satellites. I know how to use the tools and have the knowledge to create 3D models of buildings and landscapes from drone imagery and use that to analyse urban/natural environments. I have an advanced drone pilot's license which is valid in the UK (GVC qualification).
BSc: Studying geography has given me a broad general knowledge of the natural world in several fields such as ecology, archaeology, sustainability and others. I'd like to consider myself a quick and enthusiastic learner of most skills related to the natural environment, although without a strong knowledge in any particular area.
MSc: I currently study Statistics with Data Science.Age
29
What else ...
I generally love learning in all forms, especially regarding the natural world, archaeology/history, economics, languages and maps, so I am always keen to hear and share knowledge in these areas.
One other thing to mention is that I currently study a master's degree remotely and part-time, but this can be done flexibly during any hours/days of the week. Some more information
