  • Description

    Hi there!

I would really like to explore what this planet has to offer! I am looking for a way to have fun, work and meet new exciting people. I love animals, horses, cats and dogs in particular. I am always in for some banter!

I have a uni degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology but horses are truly my passion. I have a 4 year degree in horse and behavioural science and have been getting hands on experience in a variety of businesses. I've been fortunate enough to fall on the doorstep of amazing instructors and mentors and now work as a professional horse behaviourist.

I love cooking all kinds of food and trying new recipes. When the opportunity is there, I love to forage for food or use home grown stuff. I enjoy going hiking and being in nature but at the same time I can really enjoy going to a good coffee shop or pub.

I'm an outgoing person, do well with responsibility and I would love to be a part of a small but kind and energetic environment.

My ideal situation would be working a few hours a day for the host and having the freedom to run my own horse training business in the spare hours. I go out to people's yards to either train the horse, fix a problem or teach the people. :)

I'm looking forward to meet you and to see what we can do for each other!

If anyone wants to learn how to speak Dutch, I am happy to teach them! I understand German fluently, so I don't mind if people speak German around me. I'm just terrible at speaking it back! Currently trying my best at Swedish, but I'm terrible still :)

  • More details about your skills

It's always weird to talk about you own 'skills', but this is a list of things I'm pretty sure I'm good at or have proficient experience with:

    ● Equestrian

    Basic skills:
    - Starting youngstock
    - 20 years of riding experience
    - Problem fixer for horses (non-violent and based on natural behaviour)
    - I am fluent in English and Dutch (I speak basic German too)
    - I am fully certified in First Aid.
    - I have a Tractor licence.
    - Sufficient in all-round barn chores such as mucking-out, health care and fixing fences.
    - Experienced in training a horse to overcome specific fears such as fear of loading on trailer, water, different surfaces, flapping jackets of whatever you can think of :)

    Experience as a guide:
    - International travel guide experience (up to 40 people at once).
    - 5 years of experience as a horseriding trail guide (which I really enjoy!)
    - I guided kids camps & riding lessons.
    - I have taught horse psychology and horse training courses.
    - Writing educational & fun material for kids regarding horses.
    - Ability to manage/lead crew when needed.
    - Organising and leading activities for both kids and adults.
    - I can use mediation techniques to try and prevent tense situations going sideways between people involved.

    ●Life!

    - I can fix (or break) a lot of things with a power drill, hammer or my personal favourite: the crowbar. I have experience building and repairing fences.
    - I very much enjoy driving 4x4 vehicles through rough terrains such as mud or loose sand.
    - I can cook :)
    - Having lived on a small island for years without a vet, I can do basic vet procedures if necessary.
    - I have a sharp eye on animal health and safety.
