Description
Hello, my name is Emil.
I am 25 years of age and I live in Copenhagen, Denmark in an apartment with two good friends.
I have a bachelor in sociology from the University of Copenhagen and I plan to continue my studies in the summer of 2025.
Currently I work as a substitute teacher, teaching mostly French to 6th and 7th graders. Although, I also teach many other types of classes, ranging from maths to english to design and plenty more.
In my free time I am quite social but I also like reading and diving into topics like geography and history.
I also like keeping fit and I play for a football team.
I love different cultures and cultural experiences. This has lead me to do multiple exchanges in my life. The first of which brought me to Québec in Canada where I completed highschool and learned to speak French. This was 9 years ago, so I am a little bit rusty now.
More recently I lived in California, USA and studied sociology at the University of California, Berkeley. Here I lived in social cooperative housing, meaning I lived in a big house with many people from all over the world, cooking, cleaning, hanging out and learning with and from each other. That was a very pleasant experience.
Before studying and looking at computer screens everyday, I really want to pursue my interests in building and gardening work and generally being in nature. I love mountains and hiking, which is rough as I live in one of the flattest countries with the least wild nature in the world.
I am therefor very interested in doing a workaway where that is an opportunity. I also really want to practice my French speaking because I love the language and want to make sure I speak it fluently the rest of my life.Languages

More details about your skills
I am a hard working, physically fit person who likes a mental and physical challenge.
Though I do not have any formal experience doing building projects I am quite comfortable with tools, planning, measuring and carrying out tasks.
I have built drywall, a wooden shed, painted homes inside and exterior and more.
I am also comfortable doing gardening and all sorts of work outside.
I have grown up speaking Danish and English equally as my mother is Danish and father is from the United States. Then I have learned to speak French fluently from living in Québec in Canada, although I do not often speak it. I do expect to improve very fast in a French speaking setting.
I am very willing to share and learn languages and I have 4 years of experience working at a school teaching languages.
Importantly I am a social and empathetic person who values the opinions of others and I am very open to feedback.
