Hey guys!
We're Anne, Ian and our two dogs Bo and Chai. At the moment we're in Centralamerica looking for a place that we can call home for a few months, maybe longer..
I (Ian) was born in Mexico and I've lived and traveled all over the world. My dad is English so I was raised bilingual.
I love being part of a community, learning new skills, and connecting with others. I'm currently getting a Permaculture Design Certificate and have spent the last 4 months teaching myself different aspects of agriculture such as Korean Natural Farming and soil microbiology. I'm learning all this because at some point my dream is to buy a piece of land and integrate all this knowledge into it to create a space where I can grow organic food and create a community.
Before I started this path I studied Economics and Finance in London and then traveled and worked around the world for about 5 years before starting my own vertical farming company in Berlin. Along with my business partners we designed and built a system that could be placed on rooftops and that used aquaponics to grow food. The idea was to use these underutilised spaces to grow food and provide community spaces in cities.
I enjoy working with both my hands and brain, connecting with others, making music, yoga and running, and being in nature.
I've spent quite a bit of time on farms and I have a good understanding permaculture and general farm life.
I (Anne) am from Germany where I finished my Bachelor's degree in social work at the beginning of 2024. During my studies I was working in a psychosocial centre for refugees where I was mostly coordinating appointments with psychiatrists and psychotherapists. I also did a 6 months internship working with women who experience domestic violence, 4 months at a women refuge in Germany and 2 months in Mexico working for a Mexican non-profit organization. At the moment i am working online as a german teacher which makes me get to know people from all over the world.
I practice yoga most days and did a yoga teacher training course in a German yoga studio. Besides practicing Yoga I love to be in nature (no matter if it's a hike, camping or just a chilled beach day), explore new places and being with people. I like to connect with others and get an understanding of their perspectives of life.
So far I am not very experienced in gardening and farming but I am open and curious to learn more about it. I did a few workaway projects with Ian on permaculture farms so i started to get a better understanding of it. I like to dig in soil, get my hands dirty and do physically demanding work but I am also interested in learning more about edible wild plants, medicinal plants and how to combine gardening with mental health as well as social issues.
Bo and Chai were both found on the street, in Guatemala and Tenerife respectively. They're both really lovely girls who get along with everyone they meet and have no issues with other dogs. Bo has spent quite a lot of her life at workaways and excels when she is part of a community. Being one year old Chai is still a puppy: she loves to play with other dogs, meet people and is curious about the world.Interests

Designing and building a 2m x 3m aquaponic system from scratch meant Ian had to become a jack of all trades. He had to learn Engineering, Carpentry, Gardening, being a Marine and Plant Biologist, Water chemistry, thermal dynamics, sales, accounting, endless patience, etc.
He learned how to start a business, and how to fail at starting a business :D The second one taught him a lot more.
On the soft skills he also plays guitar and ukulele, dabbles in some djembe, and loves playing sports and excercise.
Anne is a good listener, empathizes with other people and has a lot of social energy. She also loves to move, feel her body and connect to her strength. Anne gets excited when she discovers small beautiful or extraordinary things (like special plants, small bugs or yummy smells). Besides that she is good with animals, can make friendship bracelets and started to learn a bit about permaculture. She also enjoys cooking.Age
