Ciao, My name is Jesse. I have dual citizenship, which includes an Italian passport, SPID, bank account, codice fiscale, ID card, and health card. I am just a beginner in my Italian language skills because I am originally from the U.S.A. I have moved to Italy permanently. I started out for 3 weeks in Messina Italy working on an animal rescue farm. I moved to Rocca Priora (near Rome) to do some manual labor for two months. And now I am in Pompei teaching english. I have 5 more months on this work contract, and then I am an open to my next experience. I am a former Ballroom and Latin dancer, and currently I teach fitness online via Zoom, so a fast reliable internet connection is important. But my online work happens in U.S.A. time, so it is later and would not interfere with anything Workaway related. I work very hard and a quick learner for anything I do not know yet. I am physically strong and am a team player. If this looks interesting to you, then I would love to talk more about possibly working for you in the near future. Thank you.

From 1998 to present I have taught and competed professional in Ballroom and Latin dance. I have been a United States champion and World champion in my career. I have taught people to dance from all levels, including beginner to professional.

In 2016 I also started training people in fitness and health, helping them achieve their dreams and goals. I have worked with all ages, all levels, and have been teaching since I was 18 years old, so I have years of experience. Additionally, in my 30s I went back to school and got a degree in criminal justice, graduating in the top part of my class, so I work hard at everything I do. I am strong and motivated, so I am ready to help.

This Workaway experience was life changing in the best way possible. I am not like most Workawayers because I am not really using it as a form of vacation with work while visiting a new city or country. I gained my Italian citizenship earlier this year and decided that I was going to pack up whatever I could in two carry-on suitcases and move to… read more Italy to start the new Italian chapter of my life. I think what I was looking for was slightly different from what I see most Workawayers looking for. I was using Workaway to find my new home city. I love working and helping people, so this seemed like a perfect website. I thought I would be able to go to different cities, work and help whoever needed it with whatever they needed, and then I could see how it felt to live in that city like a pseudo resident. Another difference is that I am also running my own online fitness business, so I do not have much free time outside of Workaway work, my own work, and doing the things it takes to live permanently in Italy, such as getting my codice fiscale, a car subscription, and all the other little things that are just the way of life to most Italian people. Additionally, I just started my Italian language learning when I moved, so trying to accomplish business things did not come so easily. But I expected the challenges and they make me really appreciate anyone who puts themselves through something like this to better their life. I was fortunate to start in Messina on an animal rescue farm with an amazing family there. Unfortunately, that was only a three week stay because I needed better WIFI than was available there. That was when I found Raffaella and her incredible family and home in Rocca Priora. This was truly a life changing experience that will always have a special place in my heart and life. We seemed to find each other at exactly the right time for both of our needs. She had recently moved into this beautiful home and needed help preparing for her wonderful daughter’s baby shower in addition to lots of enjoyable work around her place. It gave me a real sense of purpose being able to help there in exchange for a place to stay. It was the perfect trade off. We hit the ground running as soon as I showed up and it was an incredible couple of months that I would not trade for anything. Over that time I fell in love with her two amazing dogs, and her daughter’s beautiful dog as well. Those dogs stole my heart. And like any people who spend a couple months together, there can be miscommunication or different expectations, especially with my particular situation as a new Italian citizen. I think that is normal. But nothing that great communication could not resolve, which it did. I loved the experience and hope that Rafaella, her family, and all the dogs know how special this was to me and they always will be to me.

This was an amazing Workaway experience. This family took me in as a member and made me feel welcome from beginning to end. The animals were also very amazing. To be able to experience Sicily through this experience was truly a blessing. Lidia, the mother, was an amazing cook and incredible artist. Dania, was an amazing guide that worked so well with the groups of children that came to the farm as well as being an incredible artist also. Danilo and Dante, the brothers of Dania, were both so welcoming and made me feel like I was a part of the family also. They both helped me and invited to do things so that I could experience true Sicilian life. Marco, who I met later, was so nice and friendly and really made things fun too.The friends that came to visit were all so incredible too. Helping with the animals was such a pleasure, and I still had a lot of free time to explore the city and cities close by. If anyone wants a great experience with animals, a loving and welcoming family and friends, while being able to see a historic area, then you would be lucky to be picked to come and have a WorkAway experience with this amazing animal rescue farm! Questa è stata un'esperienza straordinaria di Workaway. Questa famiglia mi ha accolto come membro e mi ha fatto sentire il benvenuto dall'inizio alla fine. Anche gli animali erano davvero fantastici. I cavalli, i maiali, le capre e i cani erano tutti i miei preferiti. Anche gli altri animali erano fantastici. Hanno tutti personalità uniche e ti danno il benvenuto tanto quanto la famiglia. Poter vivere la Sicilia attraverso questa esperienza è stata davvero una benedizione. Lidia, la madre, era una cuoca straordinaria e un'artista incredibile. Dania, è stata una guida straordinaria che ha funzionato così bene con i gruppi di bambini che sono venuti alla fattoria oltre ad essere anche un'artista incredibile. Danilo e Dante, i fratelli di Dania, sono stati entrambi molto accoglienti e mi hanno fatto sentire parte della famiglia. Entrambi mi hanno aiutato e invitato a fare cose affinché potessi sperimentare la vera vita siciliana. Marco, che ho incontrato più tardi, è stato così gentile e amichevole e ha anche reso le cose davvero divertenti. Anche gli amici che sono venuti a trovarci erano tutti così incredibili. Aiutare con gli animali è stato un vero piacere e avevo ancora molto tempo libero per esplorare la città e le città vicine. Se qualcuno desidera una fantastica esperienza con gli animali, una famiglia e amici amorevoli e accoglienti, pur potendo vedere un'area storica, allora saresti fortunato ad essere scelto per venire a vivere un'esperienza WorkAway con questa fantastica fattoria di salvataggio di animali!
